TRUSTEES REPORT FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 MARCH 2024
The trustees have pleasure in presenting their report and the Financial Statements of
the Church for the year ended 31 March 2024.
Reference and Admlnlstratlve Details
The address is.. Spring Road Evangelical Church, Spring Road, Southampton S019 2NU.
The charity trustees for the purpose of these accounts comprise the Elders and Deacons
of the Church. The Llders and Deacons during the year were as follows:

Strurture, Governance and Management
The Church is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO), governed by its
Constitution, and also by the "Church Rules and Regulations"
The Church is registered
with the Charity Commission, registration nutnber 1200528.
The Elders and Deacons are elected by the Church Meeting, and are responsible for
leadership of the church. The Elders and Deacons meet regularly to effect proper
control of all arrangements for the running of the church.
Objectives and Actlvltles
Our aim is to advance the Christian faith through those methods and means
commended to us in the Bible. showing a practical loving concern for all men and
women, regardless of background or race, with an aim to the glory ofGod.
We make known the message of the Bible through various means such as the Sunday
worship services (to which all are welcome), open air preaching, through the church
book shop, through children's and young people's clubs and activities and by the
distribution of free literature.
We seek to encourage Christians in their faith, through teaching, fellowship, pastoral
care and ministry to the elderly and infirm. We provide food and diaconal aid for those
who are in need, both here and overseas. We give financial support to other charities
whose aims are consistent with our own.
Achievements and Performance

We welcome all members ofthe public who wish to attend our services of worship. In
the regular preaching of the church, we are now in a series in Luke's gospel in the
mornin& and a series in the book of Joshua in the evenings.

We continue with the monthly invitation service with several taking the opportunity to
invite friends. We have had several new people attend these services, some from the
open-air meetings, and also some through personal invitation. The meal provided after
the invitation service has proved to be very popular.
We have rejoiced to hold eight baptisms and one wedding in the church.

It is encouraging that we have good nutnbers at the prayer meeting. Prayer is
fundamental to the life of the church. In the Bible Studies we are Following a series in
the Song of Solomon.

Though our merribership is smaller, with the ongoing support and work of the members
and of others who attend. and with God's help, the church has maintained over 20
departments and ar.tivities throughout the year.
The church held its biennial church holiday in August of 2023. in Shropshire. with some
60 people attendin&.

We seek to encourage and support other churches through our Wessex Prayer Link Our
Wessex Conference took place on Saturday 24th February. 2024 with the subject being
on "Personal Revival of the Soul" Fellowship was enjoyed with those frorn several other
churches.

We have given gifts to various charities and causes as set out in note 8 on pages 10 & 11.

We have provided food for some members in need. Regular visitation ofthose unable to
attend the church, those with poor health and those in hospital has been undertaken.

We continue to live stream our services. This is an invaluable help to those who are
unable to attend the services in person.
An Assistant
We are still prayerfully seeking to appoint an assistant who c2n help our current pastor
with his duties and who might be suitable to take up the pastorate when the current
pastor retires. We have set aside a Designated Fund for this purpose.

INDEPENDENT EXAMINER'S REPORT
TO THE TRUSTEES OF SPRING ROAD EVANGELICAL CHURCH
I report on the accounts of the Church for the year ended 31 March 2024. which are set out on
pages 5 to 11.
Respertlve responsibilities of trustees and independent examiner
The church's trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. The trustees consider
that an audit is not required for this year (under section 44(2) of the Charities Act 2011 {the 2011
Act)} and that an independent examination is needed.
It is my responsibility to:
Examine the arcounts under section 145 of the 2011 Act;
To follow the procedures laid down in the General Directions given by the Charity
Commissioners under section 145 (5) (b) of the 2011 Act- and
To state whether particular matters have come to my attention.
Basis of independent examiner's report
My examination was carried out in accordance with the General Directions given by the Charity
Commissioners. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity
and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of
any unusual iterns or disclosures in the accounts. and seeking explanations from you as trustees
concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that
would be required in an audit. and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts
present a 'true and fair, view and the report is limited to those matters set out in the ststement
below.
Independent examiner's statement
I have completed my examination. I confirm that no rnaterial matters have come to my attention
in connection with the examination which give me cause to believe that, in any material respect
the accounting records were not kept in accordance with section 130 of the Charities Act- or
the accounts did not accord with the accounting records.. or
the accounts did not comply with the applicable requirements concerning the form and
content of accounts set out in the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 other than
any requirement that the accounts give a 'true and fair, view which is not a matter considered as
part of an independent examination.
I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to
which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the
accounts to be reached.
