## **Annual Report of the Trustees for the year ended 30th June 2023** 

## **History and Objectives** 

The Weymouth & Portland Lions Club CIO is constituted by Deed of Trust and is a registered charity (1200524) and became a CIO on 29[th] September 2022. The Charity comprises three trustees. During this reporting period there were four trustees in post. 

Weymouth and Portland Lions Club has been a member of the International Association of Lions Clubs, based in Oakbrook, Illinois, USA, since 15[th] April 1969. 

## **Management & Governance** 

The trust deed provides for a minimum of two persons. Further trustees can be appointed only from members of Weymouth and Portland Lions Club. The trustees regularly review the risks the Charity faces. To date these have been mainly related to health and safety issues raised at fundraising events. These are resolved through the application of appropriate risk assessment procedures. 

## **Procedures and policies for Donations and Grants** 

The trustees shall hold the funds of the Trust and its income upon trust to apply for any purpose that is charitable according to the law of England and Wales, whether for the benefit of any individual or group of people, or for the benefit of any other organisation established for charitable purposes, provided that the trustees shall not apply the Trust’s funds without first obtaining the approval of the Weymouth & Portland Lions Club at a properly constituted Lions club meeting. 

## **Activities and Public Benefit** 

The trustees confirm that they have referred to the guidance contained in the Charity Commission’s general guidance on public benefit when reviewing the club’s aims and objectives for future activities. The trustees consider the activities and achievements of the Trust to satisfy the Public Benefit Requirements. 

## **Future Plans** 

The trustees will continue to offer community service whenever and wherever its fund-raising activities permit.
