## **The Deepings Foodbank Charity Number 1200522** # **Trustees Report** ## **Year ended 31 March 2026** ## **Trustees** David Morgan Janis Hewitt (resigned January 2026) Linda Phillips Margery Morgan Viv Evans Graham Thompson ## **Legal Status** The organisation was registered as a CIO in September 2022 ## **Objectives of the Charity** The Charity is part of the national network of Trussell Trust Foodbanks We are: - ➢ Run by volunteers from the community - ➢ Helping those in our community who are in crises - ➢ By distributing food donated by the community We were set up by Churches Together in August 2013 We endeavour to relieve persons in Deepings facing poverty and financial hardship in such ways as the trustees see fit but not exclusively, by providing three days’ nutritionally-balanced emergency food and support to individuals and families, and by collaborating with other charities, agencies and organisations working to prevent or relieve poverty. ## **Review of the Year** Page **1** of **4** ## **What have we done during the year?** The primary activity of the Charity is to provide food to people in crisis in the Deepings and surrounding area. During the year we have seen a decrease in demand based on last year We have distributed 4,200 days’ worth of food to people in crisis Put more simply we are feeding over 11 people everyday The amount of food we are giving out has decreased from last year - ➢ 2024/25 – 4848 days of food (20% decrease on last year) - ➢ 2023/24 – 6036 days of food ((6% increase on last year) - ➢ 2022/23 – 5694 days of food (19% increase on last year) - ➢ 2021/22 – 4785 days food (9% decrease on last year) - ➢ 2020/21 – 5280 days food (170% increase on last year) - ➢ 2019/20 – 1956 days food (7% increase on last year) - ➢ 2018/19 – 1836 days food (39% increase on last year) - ➢ 2017/18 – 1317 days of food (17% increase on last year) - ➢ 2016/17 – 1173 days of food During the year ended 31 March 2026 the Foodbank distributed 12,191.01 kilogrammes of Food to the general public with an in-kind value of £28,649. In all our activities the Trustees have had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit ## **How do we get our food?** ## We hold collections throughout the year at Tesco’s We also have permanent collection points in the local schools, local churches, Tesco, and the Co-Op We also have donations from other organisations and individuals We also purchase food ## **How do individuals get food?** We operate a voucher system Vouchers can be obtained from various groups or organisations that support people in a crisis or direct from the Foodbank by email or ringing 07516717346 Our Warehouse is open on Monday for our clients to collect food We will also deliver food in exceptional circumstances We provide three days food for everyone listed on the voucher ## **Where are we based?** Page **2** of **4** During the year we moved to a new warehouse in Deeping St James We pay £4,000 per year for use of the premises ## **Going forwards** Our manager indicated in January 2026 that he would be retiring at the end of March 2026 At a Trustees and Volunteers meeting on the 5[th] January 2026 it was agreed we would approach Peterborough Foodbank to see if they would be able to establish a distribution centre in the Deepings. This was not possible and after discussion the preferred option would be to close the Foodbank at the end of March 2026. At the Trustees meeting on the 3[rd] March 2026 It was unanimously agreed that we would be closing the Foodbank and the CIO on the 31 March 2026 It was noted that the CIO / Foodbank: - ➢ Has no debts - ➢ Will donate any surplus food to Peterborough Foodbank - ➢ Will donate any surplus funds to the Trussell Trust to support Foodbanks in financial difficulties or to help establish new Foodbanks - ➢ Will notify the Charity Commission after the 31 March 2026 Page **3** of **4** **Income and Expenditure Year Ended 31 March 2025** **----- Start of picture text -----**
