## **Objectives and Public Benefit** 

Arising Futures exists to prevent and alleviate poverty by providing advocacy, advice, and community support to ethnic minority women and girls. The charity aims to create safe and inclusive spaces that foster personal development, confidence, and empowerment. 

In setting objectives and planning activities, the trustee has had due regard to the Charity Commission’s guidance on public benefit. The activities undertaken during the year have been carried out to further the charity’s purposes and to benefit the communities it serves. 

## **Summary of the objects of the charity set out in its governing document** 

The object of the CIO is to work towards the prevention of relief of poverty. Providing advocacy, advice and information to the public and communities. 

## **The charity’s organisational structure and wider network in which the charity works. The charity operates in:** 

Bolton, Bury, Lancashire, Manchester City, Oldham, Rochdale, Salford City, Tameside, Trafford, Wigan 

It works with local communities and networks with organisations from the various Boroughs to develop partnership working and bringing change for the beneficiary 

## **Activities and Achievements**

We are a dedicated charity to creating safe and inclusive spaces that foster personal development and empowerment. We have had an amazing year of growth, overcoming challenges and expanding our services, which have supported so many women in the community

## **Weekly Chat & Chai Group** 

The Weekly Chat & Chai group provided a safe and welcoming space focused on mental health, self-care, stress reduction, and peer support. Sessions included group discussions over hot drinks, encouraging connection and mutual support. 

## **Outcomes achieved:** 

- Reduced isolation 

- Improved mental wellbeing 

- Strong peer connections and friendships 

- Increased confidence and sense of belonging 

On average, **68 women attended each session** . 

“Going to the group has helped me with my mental health, and made me stronger as I forget about my problems when I am there.”

## **Community Cohesion Events** 

The charity delivered a range of community cohesion events through partnerships, including Afternoon Tea events, Bollywood events, and quarterly meet-ups. 

## **Impact of these events included:** 

- Bringing communities together to learn and connect 

- Celebrating achievements and recognising volunteers and supporters 

- Guest speakers and sustained engagement 

- Approximately **60 women attended events** during the year 

These activities helped strengthen local partnerships and raise awareness of the charity’s services. 





## **Group Work and Employment Support** 

Group sessions were delivered covering: 

- CV writing 

- Job searching and applications 

- Digital literacy 

- Interview skills 

- Confidence building 

- Tailored one-to-one support

## **Participation and outcomes:** 

- 15 women participated 

- Supported by 3 volunteers 

- Improved confidence, skills, and employability 

- Several participants progressed into volunteering and employment opportunities 

## **A message from our CEO** 

It has been an incredible year of growth and learning for Arising Futures. From launching our first group programmes to hosting our memorable Afternoon Tea Party, we've seen first-hand the strength, resilience, and potential of the women we serve. This year marked the beginning of a shared journey that has built trust, reduced isolation, and empowered women. I am deeply proud of what we've achieved together and excited about what lies ahead as we continue to amplify voices and create safe spaces that support women to rise and reach their goals.

## **Financial Review** 

The accounts have been prepared on a **receipts and payments basis** . 

During the year: 

- **Total income:** £19,566.40 

- **Total payments (expenditure):** £6,620.60 

- **Net surplus:** £12,945.80 

The closing cash balance at 31 March 2025 was **£14,379.40** . The trustee considers the charity to be in a stable financial position and able to continue its activities in the coming year. 

## **Plans for Future Periods** 

In 2024/25 and beyond, Arising Futures plans to: 

- Expand services to meet increasing demand 

- Recruit additional volunteers and staff 

- Seek unrestricted and small grants to support core costs 

- Strengthen partnerships with local organisations, employers, and advocacy networks 

- Improve monitoring through participant feedback and success stories

## **Trustees’ Responsibilities Statement** 

The trustee is responsible for preparing the Trustees’ Annual Report and the financial statements in accordance with applicable law and Charity Commission guidance. 

## **FINANCIAL REVIEW** 

## **Charity’s policy on reserves** 

The trustees have considered the level of unrestricted reserves that would be appropriate for the charity to maintain. This will be 50% of the annual income for the second year and will be reviewed as the charity develops. 

At the year ended 31 March 2025 the Charity’s bank funds amounted to £19,566(2024: £5,187) out of which £5 was unrestricted (2024:£5) 

The reserve policy and level of reserves required will be reviewed on a regular basis by the trustees during their meetings. 

The trustees declare that they have approved the trustees report above.
