## **TRUSTEES REPORT FOR THE PERIOD ENDED 31 DECEMBER 2024** 

## **TO THE TRUSTEES OF DORKING CHRISTIAN FELLOWSHIP** 

The trustees present their report and financial statements for the year ended 31 December 2023. 

The financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the accounting policies set out in note to the financial statements and comply with the Charity's [governing document], the Companies Act 2006 and "Accounting and Reporting by Charities: Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) (effective 1 January 2019)". 

## **Structure, Governance and Management** 

The company is supervised by the Trustees who are elected and co-opted under the terms of Articles of Association. New Trustees are advised of their obligations under charity and company law, the content of the Memorandum and Articles of Association as well as the structure and decision making process of the charity. Trustees generally meet three times a year but will also meet more frequently if the need arises. Meetings are minute. 

## **Objectives and activities** 

The Objects of the CIO are as follows: 

- a) The advancement of the Christian faith in accordance with the basis of faith primarily but not exclusively within Dorking and the surrounding towns and villages. 

- b) The relief of financial hardship among persons either generally or individually through the provision of grants, goods or services as the Trustees from time to time think fit; and 

- c) To advance the Christian faith for the benefit of the public in such charitable ways as the Trustees think fit from time to time. 

## **Statement of Trustees' responsibilities.** 

The Trustees, recognise that it is their legal obligation to ensure that the Trust's activities are in line with its objectives and activities and are satisfied that this is the case for the period in question. The Trustees also confirm that they have had regard to the Charity Commission's guidance on public benefit. 

The trustees are responsible for keeping adequate accounting records that disclose with reasonable accuracy at any time the financial position of the charity and enable them to ensure that the accounts comply with the Companies Act 2006. They are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the charity and hence for taking reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularities. 

## **Achievements and Performance** 

Achievements for the period to 31 December 2023 

- a) Free community breakfast every 3rd Sunday of the month. 

- b) Pastoral care (Counselling, Prayer, hospital visitation, street pastoring. 

- c) Sending financial support for mission in the Philippines and Italy

## **Financial Review** 

The CIO had income of £44,684, all of which was unrestricted and total expenditure was £35,056 all of which was unrestricted leading to a surplus of £9,628. 

The Trustees consider that it is in a strong position giving the opportunity to continue to grow and pursue its main objectives in the future. 

## **Reserves Policy** 

The reserve policy is currently to have 3-6 months expenditure in reserves. The policy will regulary be assessed as the Church grows and has a further out reach. 

The trustees, who are also the directors for the purpose of company law, and who served during the year were:

None of the trustees has any beneficial interest in the company equivalent to. All of the trustees are members of the company and guarantee to contribute £1 in the event of a winding up.

## **INDEPENDENT EXAMINER'S REPORT** 

## **FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 DECEMBER 2023** 

I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of the above charity ("the Charity") for the year ended  31 December 2023. 

## **Repective responsibilities of trustees and examiner** 

As the charity's trustees, you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirement of the Charities Act 2011 ("the Act"). 

I report in respect of my examination of the Charity's accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination, I have followed all the applicatble Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act. 

## **Independent examiner's statement** 

I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination (other than that disclosed below *) which gives me cause to believe that in, any material 

- the accounting records were not kept in accordance with section 130 of the Charities Act; or 

- the accoutns did not accord with the accounting records; or 

- the accoutns did not comply with the applicable requirements concerning the form and content of accounts set out in the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 other than any requirement that the accounts give a 'true and fair' view which is not a matter considered as part of an independent examination. 

I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be

The company is entitled to the exemption from the audit requirement contained in section 477 of the Companies Act 2006, for the year ended 30 June 2021. 

The directors acknowledge their responsibilities for complying with the requirements of the Companies Act 2006 with respect to accounting records and the preparation of financial statements. 

The members have not required the company to obtain an audit of its financial statements for the year in question in accordance with section 476. 

These financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the provisions applicable to companies subject to the small companies regime.
