Sometimes little people deserve a really BIG day out. AtAnastasia Days we deliver fabulous, tailor-made
experiences for children who need them the most.
Our mission is to promote the emotional recovery of young people across the North of England who have
encountered illness, abuse, bereavement or other significant trauma. Anastasia Days, arranges memorable, no-
compromise, fun days-out for children aged 6-16 and their families.

**Anastasia Days is inspired by Anastasia Costello. Anastasia was a healthy and happy 11 year-old girl who passed away unexpectedly in December 2021 after a series of complications following a COVID diagnosis. Anastasia Days was set up as a Charitable Organisation by Anastasia’s family to create a legacy in Anastasia’s name of happy memories and experiences for other children.**

advancing the emotional recovery of
sufferers. Spending time doing something
different from the routine associated with
their situation, undertaking physical activity
(where appropriate), spending time with
trusted family and friends rebuilding a
sense of safety and security (childhood
trauma almost always severely disrupts a
child’s sense of safety which can cause
them to withdraw) and providing an
opportunity to create positive, happy
memories that are more recent than the
memories associated with their traumatic
event/circumstance can help the process of
repairing emotional ill-health. Aiding and
advancing the emotional recovery of
children is most certainly beneficial to
society and we believe the public benefit
aspect of our charitable activities is strong.
Each tailor-made Anastasia Days
experience delivered in our 2023-24 year
has delivered the benefits above and|

In our second full year as a charity, we
have further been able to hone our
Anastasia Days experience days, based on
feedback from previous experience
receivers, about the components that really
have the most impact on emotional
recovery of our children.|

who work behind the scenes to encourage
nominations, fundraise, communicate
about our charity, design and plan the
tailor-made Anastasia Days experiences,
oversee arrangements on the day, govern,
scrutinise and develop the work of our
charity as trustees on Trustee Board.
Likewise, we are very fortunate to receive
volunteer time from Outlines Design who
gift time and to us to help run the charity
and communicate it externally.
As the awareness of our charity grows
(mainly from our existing network of
families, contacts and from the testimony of
our beneficiaries) we receive other offers of
volunteer time. In 2023/24 this included the
teaching team at Sacred Heart Catholic
primary school who volunteered and have
fundraised £441.30 for Anastasis Days in
memory of Anastasia Costello.
We would also like to recognise the
continued volunteer contribution into
2023/24 by the staff and pupils at Bolton
School. £2993.90 was raised by these
wonderful volunteers for Anastasia Days,
and our charity chair Wayne Costello was
very pleased to be invited to a whole
school assembly to receive these funds
and talk about the charity and its impact.|
|||Towards the end of our 2023/24 year we
were delighted to be appointed as East
Leigh A.F.C’s nominated charity for the
forthcoming football season and are very
humbled by the volunteers within the club
and its supporters that have made this
happen. The awareness of Anastasia Days
has received a real boost as our charity
appears on the club football shirt and is
affiliated with the weekly player awards
announcements.

investing time and expertise in our charity
and we are very grateful indeed to our
volunteers.|

We continued to prioritise communication
about Anastasia Days via our website and
social media platforms. These are vital in
raising awareness about our work and
helping invite nominations for Anastasia
Days.
We continue to evolve and invest time in
developing good quality relationships in
2023-24, knowing that we can trust them to
provide high quality experiences for our
Anastasia Days young people. Many of our
suppliers have been with us since the
beginning and understand our charitable
mission and work hard to go above and
beyond on each experience.|
In 2023/24 we continued to evolve and benefit from the policy and procedural framework for the charities activities to ensure that very high regard was made to governance, safeguarding and other operations such as regulatory compliance. This stable of policies really does enable the real work of the charity to design and deliver tailored, memorable high quality ‘day out’ based experiences to help advance the emotional recovery of young people who have encountered significant trauma. We know from page 1 (see above) about the clinical evidence that exists that identifies the short and long term benefits of the type of experiences Anastasia Days provides, and we of course see the delight, happiness, fulfilment, emotional respite and smiles of families on their special day itself. In addition, the brave families also take time out to send us feedback, and this is so meaningful for us as it shows our impact and benefit first hand.

meaningful as this was the school that

loved 11 year old, after whom this a charity
is dedicated, attended.
