TRUSTEE’S REPORT AND FINANCIAL STATEMENTS
FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 SEPTEMBER 2023
The Trustee presents the annual report and financial statements of the Charity for the year ended 31 September 2023. The financial statements comply with current statutory requirements and the requirements of the Charity’s governing document.
Objectives and activities
The Trustee delivers public benefit through programmes of prevention or relief of poverty and financial hardship in disadvantaged communities in particular but not exclusively in Bangladesh, Bulgaria and Peterborough UK by: Providing or assisting in the provision of education to low-income students including learning centres, training, healthcare projects and all the necessary support and training.
During the year of 2023, Zi Foundation launched a new project - SMR , Supporting Mental Resilience. In order to drive a Community forward we had to start from the core and ensure stable and healthy mental health. Zi Foundation is launching the First Mental Health Helpline in UK available in English and Foreign Languages. Pilot launch will commence in Peterborough and Cambridgeshire and slowly covers the whole of United Kingdom.
The trustees organized variety of Mental Health Awareness Events covering big cities in the UK. The Lead and Executive Advisor of the new project is Dr Saima Wazed who is regional director for the WHO and WHO’s 25-member Expert on the Advisory Panel on Mental Health.
Financial review
The income for the year amounted to £32,277.Expenditure under the trust document amounted to £26,890.
The majority of our income was spent to create the training programme for SMR with the great help and assistance of Dr Ibrahim Yahli MD MRCPsych NHS Consultant Psychiatrist. Trustees also allocated part of the income to be spent for Awareness Events which took place at the lead cities of UK.
Reserves policy
The Trustee observes the Charity Commission Scheme dated 27 November 1995 and distributes all unrestricted reserves after regard to Charity Commission order dated 10 April 1996 as amended by order varying the same, dated 8 August 2000.
At 31 September 2023, there are no unrestricted reserves.

Plans for future periods
The aim of the Trustee is to complete the Pilot of SMR and the important reasons behind creating of the project:

Supporting Mental Resilience (SMR) intends to implement a free, 24/7, mental health support service in different languages in the UK. It will be universally available and will provide support in respect of all types of mental health challenges, of all degrees of severity, up to and including those which give rise to suicidal ideation. Support will be provided by voice call and/or instant message and email.

The key objective of this service is to increase the availability of mental health support to those in need. Existing charities and organizations with an interest in mental health support will be able to promote the service through their own channels, ensuring maximum sectoral reach. The service aims to have a positive impact on the wellbeing of all of its users and, through the use of artificial intelligence, will be able to prioritize those in greatest need.

No service of this nature currently exists in the UK. Existing, remote mental health support services are only delivered by telephone conversation in English. All such services are significantly overburdened. Evidence from the UK Research suggests that the impact of the proposed new service will be significant: we will be able to reach up to 15 000 000 people who originate from different country and speak foreign languages.

SMR has developed a business model which has quality of service at its heart, and the UK experience suggests a number of key indicators are critical to achieving this aim:

a. Average length of a supportive conversation;

b. The maximum amount of engagement that can be required from a member of the SMR Team (length and number of shifts);

c. The number of qualified supervisors required to support a given number of call center employees; and
-
d. The number of coaches required to train and mentor a given number of employees.

To ensure that the quality of service is not compromised, SMR will conduct a phased rollout of this service as follows:
a. Phase Zero: system testing, service inaccessible to the public b. Phase One: rollout through two charity partners, SHOUT and Winston’s Wish and GP Practices in Peterborough c. Phase Two: scope dependent on results of Phase One
Statement of Trustee’s responsibilities
Charity law requires the Trustee to prepare financial statements for each financial year, which give a true and fair view of the state of affairs of the Charity and of the net income for the year. In preparing the financial statements the Trustee is required to:

Select suitable accounting policies and apply them consistently;

Make judgements and estimates that are reasonable and prudent; and
-
Prepare the financial statements on a going concern basis unless it is inappropriate to do so.
The Trustee is responsible for keeping proper accounting records which disclose with reasonable accuracy at any time the financial position of the Charity and to enable it to ensure that the financial statements comply with the Charities Act 2011. The Trustee is also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the Charity and hence for taking steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularities.
