Objectives and activities
We are a Charity Montessori Pre-school operating in Tavistock where St Peters School is located. We provide learning for 2-5 years old following the Early Years Curriculum with Montessori ways helping them prepare for primary school and life. This is a more independent way of learning and is proven to help with self-confidence and esteem which benefits the children.
Review of the period
This period has been a testing period for us; we have had struggles and we have had triumphs. The winter months were the toughest months for us mainly due to children leaving in September for primary school which left us with low numbers throughout the winter. The funding from the government also affected us through the winter months being paid quarterly and we struggled to find sufficient funds to keep running and had to go into our reserved funding so we could stay an active pre-school.
Then the government introduced 2-year-old funding this year where working parents would also be eligible for free hours. They also changed the funding payment system to monthly instead of quarterly. This helped us out massively as we know have regular income monthly. Gaining more children than ever and getting more funding from the government has put us in a better position then we were last year. Our Managing Director Stephanie Credicott has passed her Early Years Level 3 SEN Diploma Course which will benefit us with having extra knowledge and understanding of SEN Children that come to our setting.
We have done a couple of local charity events to raise awareness of our pre-school and to raise funds for new resources which have been reasonably successful. We also have a school lottery and Easy-fundraising to raise donations and an Amazon Wishlist which anyone can use to help us provide for the children.
We hope this success continues for us.
