Activities
In 2024/25 the Charity produced the musical ‘Wizard of Oz’ and presented it at Harrogate Theatre in March 2025. The cast included a mixture of adults and children
who were able to participate and contribute to a cultural experience. The show was well received by audiences.
The Charity also made a donation to its chosen charity, Martin House Children’s Hospice, providing family-led care to children and young-people with life limiting illnesses.
Public Beneft Statement
The Trustees are satisfied that the production of the Wizard of Oz provided an opportunity for its membership to improve and advance their knowledge in the arts of drama, mime, dance, song and music through participation and attendance at professionally led rehearsals and performance at Harrogate Theatre, working with a professional stage team.
The public benefit of the Charity’s activities was via the creation of an opportunity for members of the public to experience a piece of musical theatre at a smaller local venue at a more affordable price.
In addition, the use of Harrogate Theatre (which is also a registered charity) as performance venue assists to protect the upkeep and retention of the Theatre as a Grade II listed building within the town and to ensure the continued presence of a theatre for the benefit of providing cultural arts experiences for members of the public.
No harms were identified in the operation of the Charity’s activities.
Financial Review
The Charity has made a small profit on the performance of Wizard of Oz. This supports the Charity’s financial stability and ability to produce future productions which require significant financial outlay.
Achievements
In 2024/25, the Charity reached a wider audience (noting increased ticket sales from the previous financial year) and attracted new members to the society. In addition it was able to support both its nominated charity and the continued operation of the Harrogate Theatre.
Reserves
The Charity has sufficient financial reserves to support the achievement of its charitable objects for the foreseeable future.
