PREVIOUS MINUTES The minutes from the AGM on Tuesday 25[th] April 2024 were read out, proposed and seconded.

MATTERS ARISING

There were no matters arising.

CHAIRMAN’S REPORT NC-S thanked the Committee. Lynda was greatly thanked for her huge amount of work in obtaining the Grants. Thanks also to Heather for her previous work as Treasurer and Committee member as she now stands down. Paul Styles thanked for auditing the accounts. Needing more people to get involved. £300 donation given from Pilates. Hall used also for Line Dancing, Short Mat Bowls who have had extra sessions, Private party events. Quiz night attendance down by about 20. Poppy Barrow leaving the village meaning a loss of Slippery Whippet events. Purchase of storage container, new kitchen equipment, work carried out on lights, Jerry Turnbull has repaired the entrance door free of charge. Many thanks to Jerry Turnbull. It was decided not to pursue planning for a new hall and purchase of land as no large grants are available. Now have a grant to keep the hall going. Outdoor events seem to be more popular than inside events. Ben Hurst’s environment group work reported the Giant Hogweed. Yorkshire Wildlife Trust have treated four plants. Sara Hall has been badly scarred by the sap. YWT returning to inspect area at no cost to the village. Thanks given to Ben. Summer Show is successful. 24[th] August 2024 date for this year. Website is running well. Merger with Mission Room not going ahead. No apple juicing done this year as lack of apples. November Christmas Fair was successful, Wreath making was well attended and Christmas light switch on is to continue.

TREASURER’S REPORT See attached report. The hall needs the back wall underpinning. To provide new toilets including Disabled toilet and Baby changing unit. Heating to be changed by lowering ceiling, adding insulation,putting in new wall heaters, LED Lighting and new fire doors. Underpinning £14,000 Toilets 3,800 Fire doors 3,200

Heating/lighting 16,500 Total £37,500 including vat which he will reduce to £35,000 if all works done in one go. £7000 deposit has now been paid. Hall will be closed for 3 weeks. Some private party bookings could not be taken as they would require use of the kitchen. Making sure we keep £5000 on account to cover costs. Looking for any charitable donations, lynda happy to write to anyone. We can look at putting up rent after improvements have been made.
