New Milton Memorial Centre
Trustees’ report for the half year from mid September 2022 to March 2023
Accounts
The charity had no income, expenditure, or assets during this period.
Activities and achievements
As agreed in the Extraordinary General Meeting of New Milton War Memorial Hall in May 2022 we worked throughout this period to transition to a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO). This new charity was registered to take over the activities and assets of New Milton War Memorial Centre. The Charities Commission agreed to this in an order dated 16[th] January 2023. During this period, the trustees of the charity met three times with the trustees of New Milton War Memorial Hall to finalise arrangements. The formal Transfer Agreement was signed by the two trustees of New Milton War Memorial Hall and the two new trustees who joined to set up the CIO. The land registration change was submitted to HM Land Registry. The legal expenses of this were covered by a specific donation.
Future developments
The transition takes effect from 1[st] April 2023; this charity will operate an April to March financial year, which is why this report covers approximately half a year. All the assets and liabilities of the New Milton War Memorial Hall will be handed over to the CIO on 1[st] April 2023. The one member of staff will transfer on his same terms and conditions.
The old charity having made efforts to raise sufficient donations and pledges to replace the 1970s flat roof. In March we agreed to go ahead, with sufficient funds in the reserve to be transferred to the new charity to meet the funding gap.
