Trustees review the skills and experience required and use local networks to identify suitable candidates that are invited to interview before selection and appointment. ## **Objectives and activities** Belper Youth Sports exists to improve the health and physical education of young people aged between 4 and 21 living in Derbyshire through the provision of amateur sport. ## **Summary of the main activities undertaken for the public benefit** We achieve our objectives primarily through our Youth Sports Festivals during school holidays throughout the year which are free at the point of use for young people. Festivals include a wide range of age-appropriate sports and outdoor activities delivered by accredited sports coaches and commercial providers, and are supported by experienced youth workers and our own volunteers. A healthy lunch and snacks are also provided. 2 ## **Belper Youth Sports** ## **Public benefit statement** Belper Youth Sports believes all young people should be able to enjoy and be active during their school holidays regardless of their personal circumstances; we work together with our trusted youth workers from Blend and our sports and activity providers to ensure this can happen for as many young people as possible. The additional grants are crucial for us to provide a high quality and enjoyable experience for young people and to ensure children not eligible for free school meals but living in other challenging circumstances are able to attend. The impact of Belper Youth Sports increases with each Festival by reaching more eligible young people and ensuring they have a fun, active and enjoyable time and are well fed and looked at throughout the Festival. Our founding model ensures Festivals are free at the point of use for young people, reducing the financial and social pressure on their families for that week buying additional food, and organising and paying for activities. The Trustees confirm that they have complied with the duty in section 17 of the Charities Act 2011 to have due regard to the Charity Commission's general guidance on public benefit, 'Charities and Public Benefit'. ## **Summary of the main achievements during the period** Our relationship with sports clubs and providers is very strong and we work hard to make sure this is mutually beneficial so that coaches and assistant coaches are paid fair rates for their work. During the period September 2024 to August 2025 the charity has delivered/participated in five weeks of festivals offering up to 30 places for young people every week and two single day activities: - October Belper Sports Festival - one week of activities - Easter Belper Sports Festival two weeks of activities - May Half Term Climbing Wall at Parks Estate one day activity 30 May - Summer Belper Sports Festival two weeks of activities in August - A Field Day - one day activity on Parks Estate 6 August TOTAL 751 young people activity days were delivered. 3 Belper Youth Sports The charity's policy on reserves BYS seeks to retain at the end of each financial year sufficient reserves to ensure it can meet any residual liabilities form activities undertaken in relevant financial year and where required and budgeted for the delivery of an October festival and Easter Festival. This ensures continuity of activity in be￿een funding cycles. Financial risks The Charity is carrying sufficient reserves going into 2025126 to deliver its activities in October 2025 and Easter 2026. The charity is dependent on ongoing funding support from Belper Town Council and HAF to enable it to deliver its planned activities of the remainder of 2025126. Signed on behalf of the charity's trustees: Signed David M Higley, QPS Date rus ee ## **Independent e report to the trustees of Belper Youth Sports for the year ended 31 August 2025** I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of Belper Youth Sports (the charity) for the year ended 31 August 2025. ## **Responsibilities and basis of report** As the trustees of the charity you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts I r section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act. I have completed my examination. I confirm that no matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect: 1. accounting records were not kept in respect of the charity as required by section 130 of the Act; or 2. the accounts do not accord with those records. I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached. Receipts & payments accounts** Receipts and payments accounts contain a summary of money received and money spent during the period and a list of assets and liabilities at the end of the period.
