South Craven Evangelical Church provides weekly
Christian seNices forthe local community, induding the
main Sunday moming and evening worship gatherings
and a mithveek meeting for prayer and bible study. These
are led by preachers from within the church or wsrting
preachers from other churches. Corresponding
gatherings are held in Keighley as part of our church plant
Emmanuel Church Keighley. Emmanuel runs a creche as
part of the moming gathering, partnering with attenders in
order to help adults and young children xcess the
service. The serwces are available on YouTube or the
church website to enable individuals to listen or calch up.
Regular meetings and actiwties are advertised via social
media. The midweek meeting either takes the form of a
central meeting for all held in the church building or house
groups held in various members, homes for smaller, more
informal times of prayer, bible study and discussion
allowing time to explore various aspects of the Christian
faith and lffe in more localised gatherings. There are also
seasonal sermces and activities at Christmas and other
times such as well attended carol services at South
Craven and Emmanuel, carol singing in the local
shopping centre in Keighley and a short Good Friday
Servi￿ al South Craven.
The Church provides community support for members
and l¢xal people including the following regular meetings:
. Tiny Toes at South Craven-weekly during lenn time for
parents and pr&sthool children. This is a growing group
of Mums and their babies and pre-school children. The
children enjoy lime to play, simple crafts, singing, a
simple bible story and snacks whilst parents enjoy time to
chat, eat cake and receive support from fellow parents
going through the same joys and challenges of parenting.

friendships to be maintained even rf parents retum to

It has been encouraging to commence a similar work at
Emmanuel called Toddler Time. This offers a wami space
in the centre of Keighley for local parents and children of
all backgrounds to and enpy (x)mmunity, play. bible
stones and craft activities. Il's been a great way to meet
new people in the surrounding area.
Food for Thought- Monthly ligm lunch time meal and
thought for the day for anyone free during the daytime.
This has been much appreciated by older members of the
community. not only for the ft)od but for valuable time to
chat and deepen friendships.
Fellowship Sunday lunch- Monthly'Bring and share.
lunch after a moming se￿1￿ for any to attend. This
infomial time of chatting and fellowship is enjoyed by all
who attend and there is always enough food for
unexpected visitorsl
Recently a fellowship tea has been introduced which will
alternate with Ihe monthly fellowship lunch. Again, this
offers time to cultivate and deepen friendships foSlowing
the sharing of the Lord's Supper.
Various members are always happy to check in on
members and regular attenders through¢Jut the week for
reasons of friendship and infomal support. Additionally,
meals have been prepared and delivered to regular
attenders who have re￿ntlY given birth to help and
support them at this exciting but tiring and challenging
time.
At the opposite end of life the church family has been
privileged lo be involved in the funerals oftso much loved
members with members providing food and supporknng
with practical jobs on the day and beyond.
The thurch has been much encourajed by the bapb'sms
of of our newer attenders.
Emmanuel church attended the locd Keighley show and
enjoyed conversations wrth folk who stopped by the stall
to chat and find out about what Ihe Ghurch has lo offer.
The Church prowdes support for Christian ministries in
the UK and overseas by way of prayer and gifts. The
trustees are thankful for those mem￿rS who volunteered

Over the year the thurch and Trustees have experienced
some challenges and changes which have impacted the
church fellowship and the financial situation. Following an
extended peric<l of ill health and a sabbatical our full-time
pastor sadly resigned leaving at the end of May although
he stood d¢)wn from Trustee and pastoral duties from
January 24. Our pastor with resp)nsibility for Emmanuel
has taken up the baton supported ably by a lay elder and

Financial Review
Revithv of the charity's
financial F*)Sition at the ènd
of the period
Pw8 1.21
The Trustees are satisfied that the Charity is financially
Viable and sustsinable in the short to meth'um temi with its
existing cash reserves and continued voluntary
donations. During the period, the Church recei4*d total
incoming reSoU￿S of £98839. The largest proportion of
these resour(x is rerAved in the fom of voluntary
income from the members of the Congregations. The
church does not make regular appeals forthis fom of
income but relies on the generous spirit of the members
towards the operation of the church.
During the period, these donations (including related tax
reclaim&a under the Gift Aid scheme) amunted to
£87598.
The Church's total expenditure for the year was £86598
The largest proportion of the expenditure relates to
ministry costs, in particular staff costs along&de pastoral
and evangelistic adivities.
The extended period of unplanned pastoral leave and
subsequenl resignation has led to extra expenditure on
visiting spéakers to cover the main Sunday seNices at
South Craven. The remainder of expenditure relates to
the operation and maintenanté of the Church's building at
Crosshills and costs associated with Emrnanuel Church
Keighley induding th& hir8 of an office and meeting
spa￿.
The trustees have been cognisant that over re￿nt years
regular income {exduding ex￿pIlona1 income) has not
met current levels of expenditure due, in the main, to
supporting the work of our diurch plant, Emmanuel.
Keighley which has not yet rexhed the wnt of financial
viability.
As the congregation at Emmanuel has grown there has
been an increasing desire to work towards independence.
The Trustees proposed that Emmanuel start making links
with other Gospel churches in our area and beyond,
asking them for prayer and finanrial support to relieve the
pressure.
We have been encouraged that like-minded churches
have wllingly partnered with us and supported this WOTk
and have received one-off gifts and promises of
ongoing support. Total exceptional grfts towards
Emmanuel, this year, have totalled £10437. The sttuation
will be monrtored closely with no fixed time scale for
independence at this point.

**Independent examiner's report on the accounts**

## **Section A Independent Examiner’s Report**

**Report to the trustees/** Charity Name **members of** South Craven Evangelical Church

**On accounts for the year** 31 August 2024 **Charity no** 1200255 **ended (if any) Set out on pages** 1 - 4 (remember to include the page numbers of additional sheets)

## **Respective** The charity's trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in **responsibilities of** accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (“the Act”). **trustees and examiner**

The charity’s trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year under section 144 of the Act and that an independent examination is needed.

It is my responsibility to:

- examine the accounts under section 145 of the Charities Act,

- to follow the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission (under section 145(5)(b) of the Act, and

- to state whether particular matters have come to my attention

**Basis of independent** My examination was carried out in accordance with general Directions given **examiner’s statement** by the Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from the trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a ‘true and fair’ view and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statement below.

## **Independent**

## **examiner's statement**

In connection with my examination, no material matters have come to my attention (other than that disclosed below *) which gives me cause to believe that in, any material respect:

- accounting records were not kept in accordance with section 130 of the Charities Act or

- the accounts do not accord with the accounting records

I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
