Structure, governance and management.
Allhallows Museum was established as an independent museum after the building was purchased in 1945. It has been a registered charity (306645) since 1964 and is the process of completing the transfer to a C.I.O (1200249) registered 1[st] September 2022.
It became a Registered Museum in 1997 acquiring Accreditation Standard (RD798) in 2006. It is run entirely by volunteers. The freehold premises are held in trust by the Official Custodian of Charities on behalf of the trustees. The buildings are deemed to be of special architectural and historic interest and are scheduled Grade II listed.
The Museum is administered by a committee of trustees in whom legal responsibility is vested. The trustees as of 31[st] October 2024 were as follows:

Objectives and activities
The stated purpose of the Museum will remain the same as a C.I.O, and is to collect, care for and display artefacts, documents, and other material (including our world-famous collection of Honiton Lace) which has relevance to Honiton, its surrounding district, and its inhabitants. Its principal aim is to make the collection available and accessible to the public, thus giving an insight into the history of the local area.
All our activities produce public benefits, and it is confirmed that the trustees have complied fully with the Charities Act 2011 in this regard. The policy of free entry, introduced in 2011 will remain unchanged. Our Museum Development Officer is Joanna Cairns.

Responsibilities The trustees are responsible for preparing the trustees, rewrt and the financial Statements in accordance with the United Kingdom Accounting Standards (United Kingdom Generally Accepted Accounting Practice) and applicable law and regulations. The law applicable to charities requires the Iru*ees to prepare financial statements for each financial year thich give a true and fair view of the slate ol affairs of the charity and of the incoming resources and application of resources of the charity for that peri&J. In preparing these financial statements, the trustees are required to.. select suitsble a¢¢ounting wlicies and then apply them consistently., observe the methods and principles in the Charities SORP,. make judgements and estimates that are reasonable and prudent., state whether applicable accounting standards have been followed, subject to any materiat departures disclosed and explained in the financial statements., and prepare the financia slalements on the going concein basis unless il is inappropriate lo presume that the charity wll continue in business. The Allhallows Museum of Honiton Notes to the Financial Statements for the Year Ended 31 October 2024 1 A¢¢ounting policlos Statement of compllance The financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the second edition of the Charities Statement of Recommended Practice issued in October 2019, the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland IFRS 1021 and the Charities Act 2011. Basis of preparation The Allhallows Museum of Honiton meets the definition of a public benefit enlily under FRS 102. The accounts (financial slalemenlsl have been prepared under the historical cost convention wlh items recognised at cost or transaction value unless othewse slated in the relevant nolelsl to these accounts. Going concern The tmslees consider that the are no material uncertaintieg about the charity's ability to continue as a going concem. Incomeand endowrnents All incoming resources are included in the stslement of financia activibes when enlillement has passed lo the charity., il is probably that the economic benefits associated with the transaction wll flow lo the charity and the amount can be reliably measured. Expendltu All expenditure is recognised once there is a legal or constructNie obligation to that expenditure, il is probable settlement is required and the amount can be measured reliably. All costs are allocated to the applicable expenditure heading that aggregate similar costs to that category. Charitsble expenditure comprises those Costs incurred by the charity in the delivery of ils activities and services for ils beneficiaries. 11 includes both costs that can be allctaled directly lo such activities and those costs of an indirect nature necessary lo support them. Fund Structure Unreslricled income funds a general funds that are available for use at the Trustee's discretion in furtherance of the objectives of the charity. Designated funds are unrestricted funds set aside for Specif purposes at the discretion of the Trustees.
