Since the 'Denmead Community Centre CIO. started trading on March 11" 2023, the Board of 9 Trustees together wrfh 4 employed staff and a varying number of volunleers (currently around 20} work haid to secure the frjture of the centre and enhance the services it provides to the local residents. Our volunteers keep our grounds in good order. provKle meals for a weeldy ncheOn cb for our local elderty residents. run our monthly film nh1 and help out at our fund raising evenls which are crthcal lo the fmancial wellbemig ol the cenlre. The primary objectNes of the Denmead Communrty Centre (DCC) remain the same which are 1. To preserve and piomole Ihe Old School buildrng ivhich is one of Denmead's mosl cherished buildings currently being used as a multi discipline Comrnunity Centre providing and promoting rentsl space for recreatn, leisure and education lor the benefit ofthe local community. Comprising of 7 rooms and 3 krtchens (one of vthich is professionally fftted) the centre provides variety of services from infant groups, yoga, Pilates. language lessons, arl Classes, upholslery classes, table tennis judo counselling and care services. P5, there is a pre-school operating 08.00 to 17.00 4 days per vieek during tetm tsmes. In early 2024, Winchesler Crty Council granted Planning Approval for an extension to our 111 floor office accommodatM)n, which is mtended for the Denmead Parish Council to move back li as they lefl in 2023 due to lack of space. Denmead Parish Council have agreed to meet the cost of Ihe extension, lch will also provide additional storage space and polential extra rental iicome. The centre still hosts the Denmead Brass Band I1ch is an award-winning band along with Southern Arts Academy vthich curientty has ovei 100 students and includes the under 21 nab.onal dance squad who have won many awards vthich are displayed with priile in the centre. DCC holds fundraising events such as 'P(oms in the Park, m July and m October we hold our biggest fundraiser evenl, 'The Denmead Beer Feslival. which li 2024 was Ihe most successful yet. In addth'on to these hvo events in 2024 we hekl a third event lo commemorate the 150. annNersary of the building of the centre lch was originally a school, which turned out to be a gieal 5ucces5.
