ANNUAL REPORT AND CLOSING ACCOUNTS FOR:
DENMEAD COMMUNITY CENTRE cio
FOR THE PERIOD: MARCH 11th 2023 TO DECEMBER 310t 2023
The Trustees of 'Denmead Cc*mmunty Centre. cio are pleased to F￿￿ent their annual report for the
period 11- March 2023 to 31" Decernber 2023.
'Denmead Cornmunily Centre. cio started trading on March 111b 2023 arbd was formed by closiTrg
and transferring the assets of the 'Denmead Commuilty Assoaation. which ceased trading ￿ 10"
March 2023.
The reason for this was thal 'Denmead Communrty Association. was an urhincorporated charty. So,
to F￿Otect the trustees we made the decision to close and re-op￿ as an I￿orporated body.
The prirnary objertrrfe of the DCC refnains the same and 1$:
1. To preserve and pro1￿te ts Obj Schwl building wh￿h is one of Oenmead's most
cherished buildings currently beirbg used as a rnulti discipli￿ Comrnunity Centre,
providing aTrJ promotsng rental space for recreatj'on. leisure and education for the benefit
of the local cornmunrty.
Comprising of 7 rooms and 3 kitchens (CKbe of which is professionally frtted) the centre prowdes a
variety of services frorn infant groups, ycga, Pilates, language lessons, upholstery classes, table
tenn15. counselling and care services. Plus. weekly coffee sessions and luncheon club for the
elderly in the village all run by volunteers.
A pre-school operates from 08'.00 to 17:00 5 days per V•Eek during term time.
The centre also hosts the Denmead Brass Band wthich ￿ an award-winning band alow wrth
Southern Arts Academy which currently has over 100 students and includes the under 21 nats.onal
dance squad which has won many ￿ardS all dtsplayed with pride in the centre.
DCC holds fundraising events such as 'Ftroms in the Park, in Juty which is a tske on the 'Last Ntht
of the Proms., the Denmead Brass Band mainline the event plus other performers entertain 300+
people on the lawn at the front of the building, rain or shine the audience brir¥J ￿cnicS and drinks
and it is a￿vaYS a sold out aThd fun event that raises funds for by the DCC and the Brass Band.
in Octoter we held c¥Jr ￿9geSt fijndraiser event, 'The 23 Denmead Beer Festival. which has
becorne a very powlar event and in 2023 ￿lped us raise over £7,0￿ rnakir￿ it our main fund-
raising event of the year.

In 2024 we airn to intrOd￿e a third event to cornmemorate the 150 anniversary of the building of
the centre wh￿h was originally a School.
We also hold monthly film nights. and occasional quiz and race nights all hosted by volunteers to
help raise money towards the running costs of this extrernety important comfflunity asset

Leaving us wrth a surplus of £20,341.00
It is important to note that onty £46:975 was generated by roorn hire. The remairKler was raise(I by
holding fundraising events, grants and donabons.
