TAR March 2024 Section D Achievements and performance 1. The Trustees have apFKsinted a Foodbank Management Team of five volunteers to take responsibility for the day-ttrday organisalional tasks of the Penwortham Foodbank. They are supported by some thirty Volunteers. ￿ carry out the essential tasks of setting-up the Foodbank each Friday in the Penwortham Community Centre and more generally carrying out the tasks as set by the Foodbank Management Team. Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year 2. During the year 2023124 the Penwortham Fc(MJbank Volunteers operated 52 sessions at Penwortham Community Centre, assisting O households ranging from single senior atizens lo young familEs with six growing children. The Penwortham Foodbank supplied 3.215 parcels tailored to household size and dietsry needs of the recipients. The average attendan￿ at each session was almost 62 households. This compares to an average of 54 househokls in the previous year, 2022123. 3. With support from the UK Govemment's Household Support Fund, via South Ribble Borough Council, Penwortham Foodbank was able lo meet the increased demand on the Foodbank. Additional help was also provided through the provision of HUGGG vouchers to people from SoLrth Ribble experFenang fuekpovety. A total of 42 &vouchers were distributed. 4. Local people, businesses, schools and churches continue to be generous, providing donations of vital food and rnoney. Penwortham Foodbank is parb"culaty grateful to local supermarkets for supptying surplus bread. fruit and vegetables, and lo the town's allolment holders for sharirKJ their harvest The Penwortham Foodbank ran stall at large-scale local events to raise the profile of the Foc¥Jbank among potential donors and users and to raise additional donations. 5. Penwortham Foc¥Jbank is now registered for Gift AVJ, maximisirvJ the value of taxpayers, financial donations. 6. Wth the support of Lancashire County Council's Community Food Grant Programrre, Penwortham Foodbank ran a Ihre&month-long Egg Project. The project's aim was to encourage the greater use of eggs as part of a healthy. balanced diet. At the end, assisted by users and Vdunteers a booldet of simple but varied egg recipes was 7. As in previous years. forn￿1 one•tMne assessments and signposling relevant sources of help were gNen to all new users. 8. Penwortham F(KKlbank Gontinues to partner the RSPCA and receiv￿ a regular suppty of cat and dog food. The Foodbank is able to make referrals to the RSPCA Veterinary Assistance scheme. The fnonies held on deposit are sufficient to ensure the Penwortham Foodbank can continue to fulfil its objectives over the next 12- 24 months.
