The charity's principal objects, as set out in its governing document, are: a) to advance the Christian faith in the UK and elsewhere in accordance with Baptist principles, and b) such other charitable objects as the trustees may from time to time determine. Page 2 Internationally, Regan King (pastor) represented the church on a leader’s solidarity and exploratory mission to Israel in January 2024, meeting with hostage families and other victims of Oct 7, 2023. As a church with some ethnic Jewish believers and many ex-Muslim, Arab and Persian background believers who know the truth of life under Islam and terror, it has been important for us to speak the truth concerning this conflict, the place of Israel in the Bible, and in the end times, to say nothing of moral clarity so lacking across churches in our nation. Another trip came later in the year to Uganda in which Lucy Newberry and Regan visited ministry partners there. We have continued to prayerfully and practically partner with church planting initiatives in India and Zambia and with the Grace Baptist Partnership. The biggest expansion for us of endeavour and resource however came with the planting of Braintree Village Church at 8 Warren Road in Braintree, Essex. We have really seen a band form together to evangelise, accomplish practical works, and take this work forward and have been encouraged by a good core group forming in Braintree. Regular preaching and teaching ministry continued with special expository series through The Lord’s Prayer and the Kingdom sayings of Jesus. We were also blessed by ministry from Bryan Toll who is now recognised as an elder, James, Peter Buijs (who has ably led us to worship in song) as well as Mehrdad Safarzadeh and Jason Marcellin who also began the Cornhill Training Course following a period of early morning meetings for training in the Scriptures and preaching with Regan. A bi-weekly series in the midweek on Church History was undertaken by Regan which has continued throughout the entirety of 2024. We are nothing without the strength God gives. 2024 was filled with many highs and also some lows, but God has protected and kept and strengthened through it all. The end of the year saw Regan meeting with a family on the way out of the Jehovah’s Witnesses and headed toward baptism as new and true followers of Jesus Christ. He continues to save and we rejoice that 18 individuals professed faith in Jesus through the waters of baptism. And yet the parallel track of ongoing spiritual battle and attack persists. We are so conscious of the need to pray, fast, and support one another lest the devil gain a foothold. We know our victory is secured! Having done all, we stand firm in the Lord and the strength of His might! In planning the activities the Trustees have applied the guidance on public benefit issued by the Charity Commission. ## **Financial review** Two employees were added to the payroll of The Angel Church in 2024: A part time administrative coordinator to provide practical help especially related to the use of the church building, with the Foodbank being the largest area of responsibility. A church evangelist on a 6-month contract. This employment is fully funded by CMC – Central Missionary Clearinghouse, Texas, US. From a cash flow point of view, 2024 ended with a £3,000 plus surplus. This, however, overstates the result with approximately £10,000 due to tax, NIC, and one month of James’ salary paid in January 2025 (funding received December 2024). During the year income increased by £35,816 to £130,051 and expenditure increased by £35,816 to £127,033. As a result, cash funds held at the end of the year increased by £3019 to £89,578 (2023: £86,560), of which £84,132 were unrestricted and could be used for any charitable purpose. Restricted funds end of year balances were: Foodbank £0 Braintree Village Church £0 Employment Support Fund £5446. This fund was spent in full in January 2025. Page 3 ## **Reserves policy** The charity does not currently have a formal reserves policy, but monitor cash levels closely and will consider and adopt such a policy in the near future. At the year end, the charity held unrestricted cash of £89,578 and the trustees consider it able to meet its ongoing commitments and expenses as they become due and meet the forecast 2025 deficit. ## **Governance** Responsibility for setting policy and for making operating decisions rest with the trustees who meet regularly to monitor the activities of the charity. New trustees are recruited and appointed by the members, by a majority vote. ## **Risk statement** The charity is exposed to various risks - be they operational, financial or reputational. The trustees review the charity's activities regularly to identify significant risks and, where possible, they take appropriate measures to mitigate those risks. ## **Responsibilities of trustees** Charity law requires us as Trustees to prepare financial statements for each accounting year which record the receipts and payments of the charity for the year. We are responsible for keeping proper accounting records which disclose with reasonable accuracy at any time the financial position of the charity and enable us to ensure that the financial statements comply with the Charities Act 2011. Sep 22, 2025 Page 4 ## **INDEPENDENT EXAMINER'S REPORT** ## **TO THE TRUSTEES OF** ## **THE ANGEL CHURCH** I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of The Angel Church ('the charity') for the year ended 31 December 2024 on pages 6 to 8 following. ## **Responsibilities and basis of report** As the trustees of the charity you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (‘the 2011 Act’). I report in respect of my examination of the charity’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the 2011 Act. ## **Independent examiner’s statement** I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect: 1. accounting records were not kept in accordance with section 130 of the 2011 Act; or 2. the accounts do not accord with the accounting records. I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached. The accountancy profession have determined that only accounts prepared in accordance with applicable accounting standards present a 'true and fair' view and, as these receipts and payments accounts have not (and cannot) be prepared in accordance with accounting standards, these accounts do not present (and are not intended to present) a 'true and fair' view of the charity's financial activities and state of affairs. General funds are unrestricted funds which are available for use at the discretion of the trustees in furtherance of the general objectives of the charity. Designated funds comprise unrestricted funds that have been set aside by the trustees for particular purposes.
