The main aclivrties in FY23 were as follows.,
working in partnership with a local
basketball club Iwest London Gatorsl to
Sta8e a summer basketball festival in
August 2023, with free events open to
enthusiastic children and young people
aged between the ages of eight and
eighteen from across the local area. The

festival included basketball skills
sessions with professional coaches and
two tournaments. and
funding a full season of partKipalion in
basketball (with West London Galotsl
for a young person from a less
advantaged background who was
referred lo the Coach Ali Foundation by
local authority children's services.

Thirty children and young people participated
in open basketball sessions as part of thè
summer festival. Everyone had the opportunity
to join in skills sessions led by professional
coaches and then to play for a team in è fun
and friendly tournament.

In addition, seven girls participated in a
basketball tournament held in East London.
Thi5 was a wonderful opportunity for the girls
to try out tompetitive basketball la sport in
which girls are currently undef-representedl.
Many of the children who participated in the
free summer sessions have continued with
basketball over the last year. with benefrts to
their physical and mental health.
One young person, referred by local authority
children's service5, was able to access a year of
basketball training and games. This
opportunity would not otherwise have been
available to him.

The trustees are all volunloers and have been
in office sincè th8 charty's fomiation. Michael
Kwenloh is a basketball coach. Amina Faraj is
the mother of Ali Abuear Ali, in whose memory
th8 charity is named. Guy Newell and Marcus
Astley are parent volunteers in the West
London youth basketball community.
The selection method for new trustees would be
in accordance wrth the CIO'5 constitution.
Specifically, the trustees would seek volunteers
from the wmmunty and would select new
trustees wrth regard lo the skills, knowledge
and experience needed for the effective
adminislralion of the CIO.
