Trustees as at 31st March 2023

Objectives

To establish and run a community hall to benefit of parishioners in the Parish of Meare. The hall will provide without distinction of sex, sexual orientation, age, disability nationality, race or political, religious or other opinions the provision of facilities for recreational and mental health, wellbeing activities, other leisure time occupation or individuals who have need for such facilities. To build a strong community, improving the condition of lie in the rural Parish.

Finances

During this period the following occurred:

November, a grant was received to be able to provide a 'time to talk' bench which was placed in the playing field. This was funded by Make a Difference Locally (MADL)

2 successful fundraising activities took place:

A Christmas Wreath workshop taught a few locals how to make a wreath using local foraged fauna. This was lead a local florist, a very well supported event.

February a Mosaic workshop was held, learned how to make a mosiacframed item.

Regular small amounts of income have continued to come in via Easyfundraising and we will continue to advertise how residents can help from buying online using the advertised links

The Building

Architectural plans were changed again to create a half size building, due to the cost involved to build it full scale. Contractors were brought in last minute to set a small amount of foundations to secure the planning application from lapsing. Planning is now secured.

Governance and Structure

17th August 2022 the CIO was set up to take over the original charity.

In January, confirmation letter received from Charities Commission to transfer assets to the new CIO.

In February an AGM/extra-ordinary AGM was held for both charities, 5 trustees resigned. Leaving way for new Trustees to continue and move the project forward.

The charity will continue in the new hands of, Rosie Lander, Paul Bradley, Tim Hoskins and Hazel DeGregorio.

SUMMARY

New committee members have been appointed with the creation of the new trust, and they are committed and driven to achieve the overall objectives.
