**Trustee Annual Report and Financial Statement For Year Ending 4 April 2024**

## Charity number 1200072

## Registered address

58 Campion Place, Bicester, Oxfordshire, OX26 3EH

## **Objectives and Activities**

Kardec Group’s objectives are to advance the practice and application of Spiritism (also known as the Spiritist teachings, a Spiritualist Philosophy, as codified by Allan Kardec in the 1850s), by providing public study groups, meetings, and events about Spiritism and Spiritist ideals, and by such other charitable activities as the Trustees shall from time to time approve.

As a charitable organisation, Kardec Group runs the Spiritist Society of Windsor and Maidenhead, and the Spiritist Society of Bicester, as well as organising the SPIRITISMx seminars and other events and programmes, including fundraising activities.

Kardec Group works with and supports other Spiritist organisations in the UK and around the world.

## **Achievements and performance**

The Spiritist Society of Windsor and Maidenhead continued with having hybrid meetings every Saturday morning, with face-to-face participation in Maidenhead. The Spiritist Society of Bicester continued online, on Wednesday evenings.

Both groups saw an increase in attendees during the year.

Kardec Group continued to maintain a library and bookshop of Spiritist literature and films.

The High Five and Joanna de Angelis Translation Project fundraising campaigns were maintained. Trustees from the CIO visited Grupo Espirita Schilla (beneficiaries of the High Five campaign) in Salvador, Brazil, to see the charitable work conducted by the organisation. The same trustees also visited Mansão do Caminho, also in Salvador, to see their charitable work.

Trustees from the CIO also took part in the Joanna de Angelis seminar in Assisi, Italy, to promote the fundraiser and the translation project itself.

A dedicated bank account was created for the Joanna de Angelis Translation Project funds.

Kardec Group continued with the creation and publication of the Insightfully Speaking podcast.

In July, Kardec Group held an educational visit to the Tate Modern, to visit the exhibition of works by Hilma af Klint.

SPIRITISMx was held as an in-person event on 2[nd] December 2023, with the theme of “Global Experience, Personal Change”. Over 40 people attended the event, which was

supported by the sale of new and second-hand books. During this event, a short fundraiser was held to support the film “The Fox Sisters”, produced by Cinetica Filmes, Brazil. SPIRITISMx 2024 was announced to take place in June 2024.

In February 2024, a group visit was also arranged to the Spiritualist Association of Great Britain (SAGB) in Battersea, to support the work of Florencio Anton. Kardec Group agreed to receive the payments for paintings produced during that event, and to provide those funds as international transfers to Grupo Espirita Scheilla as part of the High Five campaign. All necessary precautions were taken against money laundering.

During the year, work continued on the first book of the Joanna de Angelis translation project and the new English translation of the book Green Light (Sinal Verde). Both are now planned for release by the end of 2024.

Kardec Group has continued to maintain social media presence on Facebook, Instagram and YouTube.

## **Future plans**

Kardec Group plans to continue its core activities of weekly public meetings, to continue with the High Five and Joanna de Angelis Translation Project fundraiser campaigns, and to continue with the SPIRITISMx seminars.
