Charity Structure

Thrive Langton has a board of six trustees who oversee the strategy and governance of the charity.

The day-to-day running of Thrive Langton is undertaken by a core operational group of approximately ten volunteers.

Thrive Langton also enlists the help of several ad hoc volunteers when required.

All trustees and core group members are volunteers from the local community of Langton Green.

Thrive Langton’s charitable objects are:

To provide or assist in the provision of facilities in the interests of social welfare for recreation, other leisure time occupation, or other such activity as the trustees shall from time to time determine, of individuals and families living/studying/working/volunteering within the community of Langton Green (“the area of benefit”) who have need of such facilities by reason of their youth, age, infirmity or disability, financial hardship or social circumstances with the object of improving their conditions of life.

Section D Achievements and performance

Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year

Thrive Langton has had a successful year operating within the community of Langton Green. Some of our notable achievements include:

Provision of well-being activities

Thrive Langton has successfully delivered a variety of well-being activities (listed in section C) to benefit the community of Langton Green.

Fundraising

£1,000 raised through community donations £1,000 donation from Movement for Good £500 grant from South East Water

£480 raised from an auction of artworks donated by the Hare Pub

Community engagement

Thrive Langton has sought to actively engage the community through events such as the Tunbridge Wells Fringe Festival (July 2023) in order to make and strengthen connections within the community.

Partnerships

We continue to maintain strategic partnerships with local organisations and businesses such as the Village Society, Langton Green Village Hall and the Pavilion Cafe to maximise our impact and reach. These collaborations have enabled us to leverage resources and expand our services to a wider audience.

Brief statement of the Thrive Langton’s policy is to keep reserves of £2,000. The trustees deem charity’s policy on reserves this amount to be a prudent hedge against fluctuations in income and to provide a sufficient buffer to facilitate smooth cash flows.

Section F Other optional information

Thrive Langton received a grant of £2,500 from Gatwick Airport Community Trust (GACT) in June 2023 designated for use to furnish a yurt as a venue for Thrive Langton to host well-being events. The grant was returned in full to GACT in November 2023 when trustees established that the yurt project was not going to be financially viable on an ongoing basis.
