## Trustees 

The first charity trustees are as follows, and are appointed for the following terms; Sister Anita Smith for 4 years – extended to 6 years Alan Thomas Gardner for 3 years – extended to 5 years 3 other potential Trustees are being recruited 

## Purpose 

The objects of the CIO are - The advancement of Education, by the granting of Bursaries, to young people, 16 - 25 years old, who live, study or work in the Redcar area, to undertake tertiary level education or take up apprenticeships or other training. All Awards will be at the discretion of the Trustees. 

The Income of the CIO shall be mainly from the Legacy of Miss P. Rutherford, interest or dividends associated with that, and from Donations made in the memory of Miss Rutherford of Redcar ex Principal of Rye Hills School. 

## Current Position 

To date the legacy from Miss Rutherford’s Estate has been held up in the Probate Process and an issue with the wording of the Will, and the policy of the Northern Education Trust, which has and is only recently resolved 

Income has been confined to Donations from Miss Rutherford’s funeral and small donations in her memory, and an agreed amount from Miss Rutherford’s Estate. This means that the Trustees cannot yet operate the giving of Bursaries until this is resolved hopefully during the second quarter of 2026
