Annual Report 2025
Rothwell Baptist Church is based in a suburb of Leeds and is part of the wider grouping of Baptist churches, the Yorkshire Baptist Association. We are members of BUGB (Baptist Union of Great Britain).
We strive to be a welcoming and caring all-age church, sharing the good news about Jesus with our community and making disciples in our neighbourhood and beyond. We have been pleased to welcome new members into our fellowship; some continue to worship with us on a regular basis.
Our statement of assets and liabilities show that we are in the black and able to pay our bills, employees and give to other charities.
We offer our building for a wide range of activities as a way of serving our community. Consequently, along with church activities it is in use almost all day, every day.
We meet every Sunday morning with provision for children; some join on Zoom. Monthly, a Sunday evening service is held for worship and fellowship. At key points in the year the morning Service is an All Age service. During the week there are two prayer meetings, a group that meets for lunch, Bible study and prayer, a social group for support and companionship and a weekly house group. A toddler group and three children and youth groups meet weekly during term time. Trustees meet every month to discuss the life and business of our church, and a members meeting is held bi-monthly.
Most of our activities are run by volunteers from within the fellowship, who also are involved in pastoral visitation and care. However, along with our Family and Children’s worker we employed a worker from Missional Generation, to work with children and youth.
In February we held a baptism service. The appointment of a new deacon/ trustee was made in March adding to the existing team of 5. Sadly, in August one of our older members went to join his Lord. Later that month we welcomed a couple who had been worshiping with us for a while into membership, they have two teenaged daughters who attend the youth groups.
Our Children and Families Worker retired at the end of August after nine years in post. So, in preparation for continuing the ministry she had started amongst families, the church made the decision to recruit a Community Outreach Worker. Interviews will be held in the new year.
The trustees continue to monitor policies and risk assessments to ensure that those using our building are in a safe environment.
Approved by the trustees and signed on their behalf
