## **Greenhavens AGM 2023 Combined Chair and Secretary / Trustees Report**

## **By Julie Barnett**

**Thank you all so much for coming tonight, what a beautiful evening we have and how lucky are we to be able to enjoy this wonderful venue.**

**Thank you to Fobs and Bishopstone Station for letting us use this newly restored Parcel Room and later we look forward to hearing from Jim from Fobs who will take us through some of the history and story of the hard work behind this restoration.**

**Since we met at the 2022 Greenhavens AGM lots has happened to the Network. We have become a CIO, obtaining charitable status and we heard the exciting news that the Ouse Valley Climate Action project had been agreed lottery funding. For Greenhavens this meant that the positions of our two amazing coordinators Jessie and Miriam have been secured for the next 3 years. And so we can take a breath and really concentrate on the work we want to do.**

**Greenhavens is a stakeholder with the OVCA project. We are also a partner and I am proud to say have been selected to sit on the Panel Board. The project is providing funds for many other groups as well as ourselves over the next 3 years. Enhancing our local areas and engaging as many people as possible. Please come and chat to one of us if you would like to know more about this important, diverse project.**

**During the last year Miriam and Jessie have worked so hard with reaching out to the groups we support, our members and everyone in our communities.**

**Writing numerous articles for local newsletters, arranging the quarterly Greenhavens Network events with a host of interesting speakers all held at different venues throughout our area. Reconnecting with our Wilder Gardens Champions and Pods. Running pop up seed and plant swaps for local organisations. Leading free identification and learning events for Wildflower walks, wilder garden sessions, bat and moth walks, fungi walks, butterfly walks and many more.**

**Reaching out with presentations across the Network introducing Greenhavens and all of the fantastic groups we work alongside to promote wildlife, natural areas of beauty, sustainability in our World and spreading hope for the future. Led by Jessie and Miriam we realised that all of our learning activities needed to be open to all ages and importantly including families. The children we meet certainly teach us so much and give us immeasurable hope for the future.**

**So looking ahead now, another exciting and very busy year ahead. At this point I would like to extend the invitation to all groups, members and communities associated with Greenhavens to come and talk to us. Tell us your plans for the future, what you need to help bring these to reality and we will be very pleased to support you in any way we can.**

**At this point I would like to say a huge personal thank you to the Greenhavens Team. Jessie and Mim, our two incredible Coordinators, and our hard working Trustees, George, who can’t always be with us but does so much in the background, Pam our wonderful Treasurer, who is also a Forest School Teacher, a stalwart of Nippers and a Granny! And Lesley, what can I say? Vice chair of LDC, on Newhaven Town Council, District Councillor for Seaford, Chair of Riverside Park and Trustee of Denton Community Garden. And all have full time jobs too!**

**So a huge thank you to them.**

**Finally just to say thank you all for coming this evening, I hope you enjoy it and do come and see us this Saturday at the Denton Challenge.**
