Message from CEO

As we reflect on the past year, I am filled with immense gratitude and renewed determination. The journey of Al Ansar Humanity Foundation continues to demonstrate the power of compassion, generosity, and unity in serving humanity. In 2023, with the support of our donors and volunteers, we were able to carry out vital projects across Pakistan. These included providing food packs to struggling families, ensuring access to clean drinking water, supporting students in their education, delivering medical aid, assisting families with wedding support, and extending relief during the blessed month of Ramadan. Each of these projects was undertaken with the aim of easing hardship and bringing dignity and hope to vulnerable communities.

Our foundation is built on the values of faith, compassion, accountability, and service. These principles guide all our efforts, ensuring that the trust placed in us by our supporters is honoured through meaningful impact on the ground. While challenges remain, we are steadfast in our belief that by working together we can bring positive and lasting change to those in need.

Structure, Governance and Management

Al Ansar Humanity Foundation has its operational base in the UK, where all fundraising activities are carried out. The foundation implements its charitable projects directly in Pakistan through trusted local teams and volunteers. By working with people on the ground who understand the local culture, sensitivities, and needs, the foundation ensures that all projects are delivered effectively and respectfully to the communities we serve.

Board of Trustees

The Board of Trustees directs and oversees the charity. Its responsibilities include setting the strategic direction, ensuring strong governance, and defining priorities and objectives. The Board monitors the performance of the foundation, reviews progress in alleviating poverty and hardship, and approves new policies and procedures as needed. It also appraises and supports the Management Team and, when necessary, makes appointments or dismissals. The Board works closely with key stakeholders to ensure that Al Ansar Humanity Foundation fulfils its charitable aims while fully meeting all regulatory requirements.

Recruiting and appointing trustees

All members of the Board of Trustees are volunteers, selected for their diverse skills, knowledge, and experience. Trustees may be nominated by existing partners and stakeholders, or they may be personally approached and invited to join the Board. Risk of Governance

To ensure the continued success and sustainability of the charity, the Board of Trustees regularly reviews governance practices, policies, and procedures. This oversight reduces risks, strengthens accountability, and ensures that the organisation continues to operate to the highest standards of transparency and effectiveness.

The trustees of Al Ansar Humanity Foundation are responsible for preparing the Annual Report. This includes the trustees' reports and financial statements, prepared in accordance with applicable law and United Kingdom Accounting Standards (UK Generally Accepted Accounting Practice). Company law requires our trustees to prepare financial statements for each financial year, and they must not approve them unless satisfied that they give a position, its resources, and the application of those resources including income and expenditure during the period.

In preparing these financial statements, the trustees are required to:

Our volunteers are the backbone of Al Ansar Humanity Foundation. Their dedication, compassion, and commitment are invaluable in helping us deliver our mission. Throughout 2023, our volunteers in the UK and Pakistan provided crucial support in fundraising, awareness campaigns, and direct project delivery. Without their tireless efforts, much of our work would not be possible.

Fundraising structure

Al Ansar Humanity Foundation raises funds primarily through community donations, word of mouth, and social media engagement. These channels have enabled us to reach a wider network of supporters across the UK and strengthen connections with both existing and new donors. Our fundraising activities are closely monitored by the Management Team, and progress reports are regularly presented to the Board of Trustees.

Funding Continuation

Al Ansar Humanity Foundation does not have a fixed income stream and relies entirely on the generosity of public donations and support from charitable partners. We only initiate projects when the required funds are available to cover all associated costs. To ensure continuity and reduce the risk of disruption in times of fluctuating donations, we have also set aside limited reserves as a safeguard.

Principal Risks and Uncertainties

Al Ansar Humanity Foundation is committed to providing humanitarian aid and relief to those in need. Our work is focused in Pakistan, where many communities face hardship due to poverty, lack of access to basic necessities, and at times, natural or environmental challenges. Operating in such environments naturally gives rise to risks and uncertainties. These are managed through our growing experience, supported by robust systems, careful oversight, and the commitment of our trustees, staff, and volunteers.

Senior management and trustees regularly review organisational risks, develop mitigation strategies, and ensure their implementation.

Safeguarding

Al Ansar Humanity Foundation is dedicated to supporting vulnerable families, children, and communities in a way that empowers and protects them. Safeguarding remains a priority, ensuring that beneficiaries are supported in a safe, respectful, and dignified manner. The Chair of Trustees oversees safeguarding practices, while responsibility at operational level rests with designated leads who ensure appropriate standards are maintained.

Cybercrime

The risk of cybercrime is an increasing challenge for all organisations, including charities. We continue to take steps to strengthen our digital resilience, improve data protection, and follow GDPR principles. We are committed to keeping donor, beneficiary, and organisational information secure at all times.

Achievement and Performance

Review of financial performance

Our fundraising objectives remain focused on maximising voluntary income and ensuring it is used efficiently to support those in need. Thanks to the generosity of our donors, we were able to deliver vital projects across Pakistan during the year, including food distribution, water access, education, medical aid, Ramadan support, and family assistance programmes. Our income for the first year of operation was £5,231 and the direct charitable expenditure during the year was £5,067.

Review of development activities

The trustees are satisfied with the continued progress of the charity. Since its establishment, Al Ansar Humanity Foundation has focused on alleviating poverty by providing food, clean water, education, and medical support. Looking ahead, we aim to strengthen our fundraising, develop sustainable initiatives, and expand our capacity to respond quickly to urgent needs and emergencies.

Financial Review

Thanks to the generosity of donors and the efforts of our volunteers, Al Ansar Humanity Foundation continues to grow steadily. Despite global and local economic challenges, we have maintained strong fundraising and delivered a range of projects in Pakistan. These include essential food packs, water projects, education support, medical aid, and seasonal assistance such as Ramadan support.

Unspent funds are carried forward to the next financial period to ensure the continuity of projects. Where a project required additional funds, these were drawn from general donations.

Details of all charitable income and expenditure are mentioned in accounts. The difference in amount received and not spent is carried forward to the next period and any deficiency in funds for specific projects were taken out from General Donations fund.

Reserves policy

Our beneficiaries are some of the most vulnerable communities in Pakistan, many of whom rely on our support regularly. Any disruption to our projects could significantly impact their lives. Trustees therefore recognise the importance of holding reserves to ensure continuity during times of financial uncertainty.

As a developing charity managed by trustees and volunteers, Al Ansar Humanity Foundation maintains minimal operational expenses, with the aim that 100% of donations go directly towards charitable projects. This reserves policy is reviewed annually by the trustees at the Annual Trust meeting, where the Chairman presents recommendations for approval.

IT & Data Storage

All financial records are maintained digitally. To ensure data security, regular backups are taken and stored securely. The possibility of cloud-based backup systems is being assessed to strengthen data protection and resilience.

Going concern

Based on our financial performance and reserves position, the trustees have a reasonable expectation that Al Ansar Humanity Foundation will continue in operational existence for the foreseeable future. There are no material uncertainties that cast doubt dingly, the financial statements have been prepared on this basis.

This Trustees' Annual Report, prepared under the Companies Act 2006, was approved by the Board of Trustees on 16th August 2024 including approving in their capacity as Directors, the Trus and is signed as authorised on its behalf by:

1. ACCOUNTING POLICIES

BASIS OF PREPARING THE FINANCIAL STATEMENTS

The financial statements of the charity, which is a public benefit entity under FRS 102, have been prepared in accordance with the Charities SORP (FRS 102) 'Accounting and Reporting by Charities: Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) (effective 1 January 2019)', Financial Reporting Standard 102 'The Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland' and the Charities Act 2011. The financial statements have been prepared under the historical cost convention.

INCOME

All income is recognised in the Statement of Financial Activities once the charity has entitlement to the funds, it is probable that the income will be received and the amount can be measured reliably.

EXPENDITURE

Liabilities are recognised as expenditure as soon as there is a legal or constructive obligation committing the charity to that expenditure, it is probable that a transfer of economic benefits will be required in settlement and the amount of the obligation can be measured reliably. Expenditure is accounted for on an accruals basis and has been classified under headings that aggregate all cost related to the category. Where costs cannot be directly attributed to particular headings they have been allocated to activities on a basis consistent with the use of resources.

Grants offered subject to conditions which have not been met at the year end date are noted as a commitment but not accrued as expenditure.

TAXATION

The charity is exempt from tax on its charitable activities.

FUND ACCOUNTING

Unrestricted funds can be used in accordance with the charitable objectives at the discretion of the trustees.

Restricted funds can only be used for particular restricted purposes within the objects of the charity. Restrictions arise when specified by the donor or when funds are raised for particular restricted purposes.
