Sefton Baby Baskets The Board present their Report and Accounts for the year ended 31" December 2023. REPORTOF THE BOARD The Charity Sefton Baby Baskets was incorporated by a Trust Deed on 5 August 2022. Trust address: Sefton Baby Baskets, 27 Bonnington Avenue, Crosby. liverpool L23 7YJ. Alms and Oblertl¥es Sefton Baby Baskets 15 a volunteer-led charity that aim5 to support pregnant women and famllies across Merseyside by gifting a Moses basket filled with essential mother and baby supplies to those who are stru8gllng to provide these items for themselves. As poverty and unemployment increases. many families need help to ease the financial burden of preparlnB for a baby's arrival. We passionately believe that no baby should go without the essential items to be kept warm, clean and comfortable, and every mother should have everything she need5 for a comfortable and healthy pregnancy, and transition into motherhood. The contenis of our baby basket5 are brand new or in freshly laundered second hand condition. All mattresses and toiletries are brand new. In partnership with a lotal fitness provider SBB also support wellbein8 courses for expectant and new mothers. Organlsatlon The activities of the Trust are carried out by the board members and local volunteers. The baskets are distributed to our cllents via a network of referral partners. ANNUAL REVIEW FROM THE CHAIR 2023 Sefton Baby Baskets has continued to grow in 2023 across all areas. Over the course ofthe year, we have helped 359 mums. The help we've supplied this year has expanded due to the needs of the mums referred to us. We have continued to supply essentials for new babies, gifting them a Moses basket to provide a safe place to sleep and filling it with clothing and beddineto keep them wami. We have extended the contents ofthe toiletry packs we give due to so many ofthe families we help support suffering from hygiene poverty. We also now regularly provide other essential items Iprams, baby baths. sterilisers, chair51 and are also now providing clothes for older children and mums. Again. these items and clothes are donated by the local community. Our regular volunteer group has increased in size, and they are helping Out for longer hours a150. We now have a 8roup of 12 volunteers who come to help at least once a week. We meet on a Monday and Wednesday morning between 9.00- 12.00. We have made links with quite a few people and group5 that kntt and crotchet items. cardi8ans, blankets, toys as well. We had some success in funding applicatlons In 2023, Including grants from The National Lottery and Sport En8land. This was targeted funding for thermometer packs, electric clothes dryers, baby sleep bags, exerclse classes for mums and babies and a family wellbeing event. These are all things that without the fundin8 we would not have been able to provide, and we know from feedba¢k how well they have been received and the difference it has made to the mums we help support. One of the major thin85 for us this year was trylng to secure new premises and we finally managed to do that and move in November to St Edmunds old presbytery. With the help of an amazing group of people we managed to get everything moved and set up In a day and most importantly with no downtime to the services we offer. We have settled well into our new premise5 but are finding that with an increased demand we may soon need more space. We have done some outreach in 2023, increasing the number of organisatlons that make referrals to us and the areas they work in. We have also attended many local fairs and markets to spread the SBB word. We have Bained more support across Instagram and Facebook,. this Is Important to us a5 this is hqw people hear about us and then donate items we need. Our challenge for 2024 is to continue to Brow and help more mums. to secure more funding applications, to build links with local businesses that could help us and to maintain and keep our volunteer base. You consider that an audit is not required for this year lunder Section 144121 of the Charities Act 201112011 Act) and that an independent examination 15 needed. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and the comparison of the accounts presented wlth those records. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit and, consequently, I do not express an audit opinion on the view given by the accounts and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statement below.
