Activities
SMCC is the representative body for the Muslims in the East and North Herts. The Charity is a Mosque and a community centre, providing facilities for community services, Islamic education for children and classes for learning the Holy Qur'an and Arabic. It organises discussions, lectures and meetings on religious topics to the community and accommodates local schools for religious education.
Objects: 1. To Advance The Islamic Religion For The Benefit Of The Public In Accordance With The Qur‘an And The Sunnah, In Particular But Not Exclusively By Providing:* A Mosque For Prayer, Lectures And Meetings* Facilities For Religious Celebrations And Ceremonies Including Marriage And Funeral Services* Islamic Religious Education For Children, As Well As Classes In The Holy Qur’an And Arabic* Interfaith Activities To Build Community Cohesion, Understanding And Respect Through Forums And Welcoming Visits From Other Parts Of The Community Such As Schools.2. The Advancement Of Education For The Public Benefit, In Particular But Not Exclusively By Providing Classes In The English Language, Computer And IT Skills And Other Subjects As The Trustees Decide From Time To Time In Line With The Teaching And Practices Of Islam.3. To Further Or Benefit The Residents Of Stevenage And The Neighbourhood, Without Distinction Of Sex, Sexual Orientation, Race Or Of Political, Religious Or Other Opinions By Associating Together The Said Residents And The Local Authorities, Voluntary And Other Organisations In A Common Effort To Advance Education And To Provide Facilities In The Interests Of Social Welfare For Recreation And Leisure Time Occupation With The Objective Of Improving The Conditions Of Life For The Residents.in Furtherance Of These Objects But Not Otherwise, The Trustees Shall Have Power To Establish A Community Centre And To Maintain Or Manage Such A Centre For Activities Promoted By The Charity In Furtherance Of The Above Objects.4. To Relieve The Charitable Needs Of The Elderly, The Sick And Those Who Are In Financial Hardship, Through The Provision Of Grants, Goods Or Services.
