Provision of music and cultural education in the West Midlands.
Summary of the objects ofthe
charity set out in its
governing document
TAR

During the Year our charity had the privilege to support the classical arts
education of over 800 children from across the West Midlands, working in
partnership with nine state-funded schools.
This was delivered through a trailblazing school-based cultural education
provision of instruction in classical singing and ballet working with some of
the best practitioners in Britain. All our partner schools were located in
heavily socioeconomically disadvantaged communities, enabling our
mission and work to go right to the heart of where its impact will be felt the
most.
Summary ofthe maln
activities undertaken for the
public benefit in relation to
these objects (include wlthln
this section the statutory
declaration that trustees have
had regard to the guidance
issued by the Charity
Commission on public
benefit)
We also began work on fundraising for our 'West Midlands Music Fund,
IVVMMF) programme which has now become the core focus ofthe Charity,
with our school-based arts provision {operating under the 'Transformalion
Partnership, initiative) now inside a new non-profillcharilable entity. West
Midlands Music Fund aims to deliver life-changing classical music
scholarships exclusively to children from low-income families. Under our
plans, children are to receive funded instrumental lessons on a weekly
basis in School as well as a nutritious diet of musical enrichment
opportunities for three years. We hope to formally open Ihe fund in 2026.
Trustees had due regard to the guidance issued by the Charity
Commission on public benefit.

Achievements and performance
TAR

Summary of the main
achievements of the charity
durlng the year
This academic year (September 2024- July 2025) has been a time of
incredible impact and transformation for our children. During the period
we brought together our partner academy trusts and arts organisalions to
facilitateldeliver weekly intensive training across the classical arts with a
core focus on classical singing (choral music) and ballet. This world class
instruction enabled our learners to achieve some incredible feats
including staging a professionally led opera and ballet.
Term 1
Under the leadership of choral directors from ArmoniGo Consort, our
children participated in classical singing sessions, learning complex choral
music that stretched their ability and aptitude to new heights. They covered
areas of the national curriculum, including learning how to pitch their voices
and sing in harmony, identify rhythms and pulse, analytically listen,
express their creativity through musical shaping, understand written music
notation, create new music together, build performance technique, develop
understanding of music history, style, period and much more.
Learners then presented their pieces alongside poetry to parents in an
inspirational winter showcase in school, accompanied by a professional
classical pianist.
'My general feedback about the sessiorFS With Mr L are outstanding,
every week l absolutely cannot wait to begin the session. I have never
experienced singing classical music before and never truly expressed my
head voice. These wonderful workshops have helped mental health and
are simply heaps of fun to encounter. It's the best part of singing everl
Thank you for what you've done so farl~ Nefertiti, Year 8
Term 2
Using the skills and competencies our children developed in temi one,
children then progressed onto weekly operatic lessons learning a breadth
of new challenging repertoire from the famous 'Hansel & Gretel, Opera by
Humperdinck. Learners worked to deliver a full-scale classical opera
production with professional orchestra (City of Birmingham Symphony
Orchestral and cast @ Birmingham's renowned Rep Theatre in March to
an auditorium of parents, community, education leaders and dignitaries.
Our production was also covered by BBC News showcasing the brilliant
achievements of our children.
"I love how my Headleacher gave us all a chance to sing and how l in
improving a lot now that I m learning. I really like how we're going to sing
like a singerl" Koby, Year 4
°In my opinion this experience so far has been am8zing. I have shown my
parents they have seen such an improvement in my singing and personally
I love it". Baljeet, Year 9
Terni 3
For the final term of our provision, expert ballet teachers delivered three
months of direct ballet instruction for an hour in school each week. Children
were taught the key fundamentals of this ￿aUtIfUl art including fomi,
TAR

balance, time, energy and movement. Our learners progressed towards
staging an ambitious ballet production alongside professional dancers and
orchestra, showcasing their learning and newfound talents and skills to
parents and families.
Collaborating wilh a 46-piece professional orchestra and ballet dancers,
our children led a stunning performance of the dramatic ballet 'Romeo &
Juliet, by Prokofiev in Birmingham's renowned Symphony Hall in July
2025.
Arts participation is proven to transform children's learning capacities both
academically and socially. Yet equitable access to high quality classical
arts education is scarce in our disadvantaged communities and the
Transformation Partnership movement exists to change that. Throughout
the year we conducted an evaluation exercise with advice from educational
research experts. Our child voice survey found.'_
890/0 said they gained valuable musical knowledge and skills
85 % said the provision improved their wellbeing
780/0 said they look fO￿ard to coming to school on the day they
have their session (fostering positive attitudes to attendance)
