Trustees Annual Report Alzheimer's Dementia UK CIO
Trustees Report
Alzheimer's Dementia UK CIO For the year ended 31 July 2025
During the year ended 31 July 2025, the charity continued to develop its activities and fundraising capacity, building on the improvements identified following the previous independent examiner’s comments. The earlier 2023 report drew attention to weaknesses in trustee administration, internal policies, financial controls and accounting records. The trustees recognise the importance of those matters and have sought to strengthen the charity’s financial administration and day-to-day record keeping as the charity’s activities have grown. The charity’s main activities continued to include the operation of the charity warehouse, raising funds through donations and sales, and applying those funds towards the charity’s objectives of supporting people affected by Alzheimer’s, dementia and cognitive impairment.
For the year ended 31 July 2025, the charity’s income increased significantly to £58,785.03 , comprising donations received of £41,988.33 , sales of £16,289.70 , and other revenue of £507.00 . After direct costs of £6,095.00 and administrative costs of £39,856.37 , the charity achieved a surplus for the year of £12,833.66 . The main expenditure continued to relate to the operation of the charity’s premises and activities, including rent of £23,910.67 , motor vehicle expenses of £5,928.12 , repairs and maintenance of £3,076.77 , telephone and internet costs of £1,814.28 , and light, power and heating of £924.55 . At 31 July 2025, the charity held cash at bank of £15,354.75 and reported net assets of £15,821.98 , including retained earnings brought forward of £2,988.32 and current year earnings of £12,833.66 . The improved financial position gives the trustees greater flexibility to continue supporting the charity’s objectives, while also maintaining an appropriate level of reserves for ongoing running costs and future charitable activities.
