Trustees Report
Alzheimer's Dementia UK CIO For the year ended 31 July 2024
During the year, the charity continued its work in supporting people living with Alzheimer’s, dementia and other forms of cognitive impairment, together with their families and carers. The charity’s activities continued to be centred around raising funds through its charity warehouse and using those funds to support its charitable purposes. In the previous reporting period, the independent examiner highlighted a number of governance and record-keeping matters, including the need to improve internal policies, financial controls, trustee records, and the identification of charitable income and expenditure. The trustees acknowledge those earlier matters and have continued to work towards improving the charity’s administration, financial record keeping and oversight arrangements.
For the year ended 31 July 2024, the charity generated total income of £32,927.90 , comprising donations of £10,627.95 and sales of £22,299.95 . After direct costs of £1,005.00 and administrative costs of £28,934.58 , the charity recorded a surplus for the year of £2,988.32 . The main costs of operating the charity included rent of £19,150.51 , motor vehicle expenses of £3,569.09 , rates of £2,009.97 , and staff training of £1,000.00 . At the year end, the charity held cash at bank of £3,563.17 , with net assets of £2,988.32 after taking account of creditors and loan balances. The trustees consider the year-end reserves to be modest but positive, and sufficient to support the continuation of the charity’s day-to-day activities in the short term.
