The Charity
The name of the Charity is The Water Conservation Trust CIO and its registered address is
c/0 6 Bluebell Drive, Burghfield Common, Readin& RG7 3EF. The number of the charity is
1199697 and it is Registered in England and Wales.
Trustees and Thelr Responslbllities
All trustees are appointed by the Court of the Worshlpful Company of Water Conservators
in consultation with the Chairman of The Water Conservation Trust CIO.

The Water Conservation Trust CIO (the Yrusv) has four appointed officer positions:

The Chairman and Honorary Treasurer are responsible for preparin8 the Report of the
Trustees and the financial statements in accordance with applicable law and Unbted
Kingdom Accounting Standards (United Kingdom Generally Accepted Accountin8 Practice).
The law applicable to charities in England and Wales requires the Trust to prepare financial
statements for each financial year which give a true and fair view of the state of affairs of
the charity and of the income and expenditure of the charity for that period. In preparing
these financial statements The Trust is required to:
Select suitable accounting policies and then apply them consistently:
Observe the methods and principles in the Charities Statement of Recommended
Practice ISORPI-

Make judgments and estimates that are reasonable and prudent;
State whether applicable accounting standards have been followed, subject to any
material departures disclosed and explained in the financial statements, and
Prepare the financial statements on the going con￿rn basis unless it is inappropriate
to presume that the charity will continue in operation.
The Trust is responslble for keeping proper accounting records that disclose with reasonable
accuracy at any time the financial position of the charity and enable it to ensure that the
financial statements comply with the Charities Act 2011, as amended bythe Charlties Act
2022. It is also responsible for safeguardingthe assets of the charity and hence for takin8
rea50nable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularities.
The Trust is responsible for the maintenance and intÈ8rity of the charity and financial
information included on the chariWs section of the Worshipful Company of Water
Conservators website.

Financial arrangements - proEres5
The Trust was constltuted as a Charltable Incorporated Organlsatlon on 18 July 2022. In the
period 18 July 2022 and 30 June 2023, the Trusys Officers have set up and tested banking
arrangements, obtained the consent of HMRC to recover Gift Aid, and set up investment
accounts with Fund Managers CCLA and Schroders, to allow Trust operations to begln on I
July 2023. This has meant that only two financlal transactlons had taken place by 30 June
2023.
Trustees
New trustees, chosen from Liverymen of the Worshipful Company of Water Conservators,
are appointed from time-to-time to fill vacancies, by invitation from the Court of the

Worshipful Company of Water Conservators. No other individual or other body has power
to appoint newtrurtees.
New trustees are indurted into the Trust and work closely wrth existing trustees. Trustees
are given literature issued by the Charity Commission setting out their responsibilities.
Trustees are given the opportunlty to attend conferences and training pertaining to the
roles and responsibilities of trustees.
The general management and administration of the charity are vested in the appointed
officers.
All trustees are volunteers and no remuneration or benefrts were provided to them.
Rlsk Assessment
A Risk Assessment has been conducted.
The Trust has appropriate arrangements in place for the preparation of financla
statements, the keeping of proper accounts and records, the safeguarding of assets and the
detection of fraud. The Trust reco8nises its responsibilities to both members and
beneficlaries in matters of data security IGDPRI, safe8uarding and general conduct and
re8ularly revlew5 Its procedures and takes professional advice where required.
Related Party Transactions
The charity trustees confirm that to the best of their knowledge and belief there were no
financial transartions undertaken bythe Trust in the period ended 30 June 2023 in which
the charlty trustees or any person/company connected w*th them had, directly or Indirertly,
a materlal interest.
Object of the Trust
The Objects of the Trust, as Set out in its incorporation documents are:

the rÈllef of poverty of person5 generally and in particular of those persons en8a8ed
in water conservation or the water industry and their dependants;

the advancement of education of persons en8aged or desiring to enga8e in artivities
connected wlth the water industry or elsewhere in industry and commerce generally and in
particular by..
providing or contributing towards the provision of all requisite facilities in
connection therewith;
lill awarding to such person5 intending to be engaged in the water industry or
elsewhere in industry and commerce generally scholarships and exhibitions at any
educational establishment approved by the Trustees,.
lili) awarding prizes in connection with the examinations of reco8nised education
authorities;
(iv) assisting in general or industrial or commercial edUCat￿n any persons in
necessitous circumstances who are preparing to enter the water industry
commerce or industry 8enerally by the provision of books the payment of fees and

the defrayment of expenses of travelling or Maintenance or by such other means as
the Trustees may think frt:

the promotlon of research in the field of water technology and consetvation or
otherwise for the advancement of the educatton of persons engaged or deslring to engage
in the water industry PROVIDED THAT the useful results of such research shall be
di55eminated for the public benefrt and without prejudice to the generality of the foregoing
the provlsion of financial support and facilities for those engaged in such research and the
award of bursaries and prizes in connection therewith-

to make donations to any registered charity.
Delivery of Publlc Benefit
The Trust confirms that it has adopted the Charity Commission'5 general guidance on public
benefit when revlewing the tharitys aims and objectives and when plannlng fvture
activltles.
Financlal Reporting
The Trust was constituted as 3 Charitable Incorporated Or8anlsation on 18 July 2022. In the
period 18 July 2022 and 30 June 2023, the Trust's Officers have set up and tested banking
arrangements, obtained the consent of HMRC to recover Gift Aid, and set up investment
accounts with Fund Managers CCLA and khroders, to allow Trust operations to begin on I
July 2023. Only two financial transactions were recorded in the perlod to 30 June 2023.
The flnanclal statements of the Trust comply with statutory requirements and the
requlrements of its governlng instrument and include additional information requlred by
law. At the year-end there were no commltments regarding on-80in8 expendlture,
incomplete projects, or obligations not met whith were not provlded for in the accounts.
Flnanclal Reserves Pollcy
The financial reserves pollcy is to develop the Fund to support: {il a medium-term
programme of bursaries (including travel bursaries) at UK universities, lill the tmprovement
of water and environment content in academic and trainlng course5, and lili) to provide
financial support for cases of poverty.
Going Concern
The trustees consider that there are no material uncertainties about the Trusys ability to
continue as a going concern.
Facilities
The charity does not own any facilities.
