Responsibilities and basis of report I report in respect of my examination of tt)e Trust's aGcounts carried out under sedion 145 of the 2011 ArA and in Garying out my examination, I have followed the applicable Directions given by the Charrty Commission under seciion 145(51{b) of the Act. Independent examiner's statement I have completed my examination. The charity's gross income did not exceed £250,000. I confim that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination whiGh gives me cause to believe that in. any matenal respect.. accounting records were not kept in accordance with section 130 of the ALI or the accounts do not accord with the accounting records the accounts did not comply with the applicable requirements conceming the fomi and contant of accounts set out in the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 other than any requirement that the accounts give a Yrue and fairf view which is not a matter considered as part of an independent examination. KiTkbymoorslde Town Brass Band Trustees Annual Raport Year Ended 31" March 2025 FINANCIAL CONTROLS Financial matters have been administered by the treasurer, with financial control exercised by having financial Iransactions undertaken only by any of the following John Barrett reasurer), Sarah WocLlward (Musical Director}, Philip Wcodward (Band Manager} and Ben STnailes (Assistant Treasurer). Regular ￿pOrtS of all the band's financial transactions are made to the trustees and their operations committee members throughout Ihe year. POWER OF APPOINTMENT OF TRUSTEES Responsibility for the recruitment of new trustees rests with the exlsting Irustees. All trustee appointments nèed to be approved by a dectsion of the members at a general meeting. Any new trustees receive suitable training from the existing tnjstees and are encouraged to exaffline the Charity Commi3sion website for guidance. RISKS POLICY The trustees conduct a review of the major risks to vthich the charity is ex[￿6ed on an ongoing basis via meetings held wilh an elected committee every Iwo months. Where appropriate. systams or pro￿dUreS have been established lo mitigate the risks the charity faces. Intemal control risks are minimised by the implementation of procedures for authorisalion of all Iransactions and projects. These procedures are periodically reviewed to ensure that they continue to meol the needs of the charity. OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES The aims and objectives of the Society shall bè to educatè the public in the Muslcal Arts and. in particular, the Art of Brass Band music, cullure and heritage. It will aim to further Ihe development of the public appreciation of the said Art. by the preseniation of concerts, the provision of musical tuition and other activities. The charity maintains and operates The Band Room and The James Holt Concert Hall in Manor Vale, Kirkt)ymoorside. York, Y062 6EG and uses these premises for band practice, concerts, training. educalion, tuition and its charitable aclivities. The James Holt Concert Hall is also used by the 1 Kirkbymoorside Scout Group on a peppercorn lease.

The Training Bands have had a shake up this year and our conductors have set out the Training Bands as follows= Roots. led by Annabel Kent. is our entry-level band for new players. Both adults and Children start by leaming to play individually and gradually progress lo performing togelher as a four- part ensemble. Followlng a successful audition. they can Ihen move on to the Development Band,1gd by Sarah W0￿ward, where they tske on more challenging music and continue to grow as ensamble players. While in th8 Development Band, adult players also have the opportunity to join our Community Band. led by Emma Smailes. vthich is designed for adult leamers and those retuming to playing after a break. For players aged 18 and under. a suc￿sSful audition opens the dcM)r to our Youlh Band. led by Jeanette Kendall. Here, young musicians gain more perfomance opportunities, including competitions. The goal of the Youth Band is to inspire and prepare then to reach the slandard required for joining the Senior Band. The Training Band activities included: Ryedale Festival Song Cyde- Shining Brass Spring Concert- Youth Band Roots and Development Band Concert Swinton Masterclass - various Youth Band members attended the masterGlas5 Solo Competition for all B8nds adjudicated by ￿an Femie Brass on Tap with Youth and Community Band Chrislmas Conc8rt Youlh Chamrmonships The Community Band actbvities included: Musical backdrop to the Kirkbymoorside Christmas Fair Contesting Brass conc8rt perfomiance alongside Swinton & District Excelsior. Kirkbymoorside Youth Band and Kirkbymoorside Senior Bands Eurovision Concert Joumeys Concert cnristmas Concert The Senior Band activities induded- Players Choice con￿rI wrlhin the Concert Hall 5 concerts throughout the year in the Concert Hall Rye(lale Festival Musical Concert Musical support for community events including Amiistice Day, 10K Road Race and annual charity Tractor Run event

The band obtained 8 posits'on Christmas Carol Concert Chrislmas carol playing FINANCIAL REVIEW The Truslees are satisfied by the activtbes of the charity and are pleased with the resulls for the year. The detail rAn be found in the awounts reprcmjuced herewith. No remuneraknon or other benefits from employment the charity or a related entily were received by the Trustees. Two Truslees were paid £2566.35 (One Trustee £2065.50 in 2023- 24) in respect of travel expenses and all of those travel expenses. being £2566.351£2065.50 in 2023-24), were subsequently donated back to the charity, so the net cost to the charity of Trustee travel expenses was £0.00 {£O.QO in 2023-24). Two tnjstees were reimbursed out of pockel expenditure incurred by the charity of £6052.80 {£359.33 in 2023-24) in tolal. RESERVES POLICY The Truslees have considered Ihe level of reserves that the Charity needs and are of Ihe opinion that the Charity should have sufficient funds lo settle the annual governance and support costs of its charitablg activities. The Trustees regulady review the level of the unrestricted reserve at meetings held with an elected cornmiltee every months. If needed the Trustees seek further fijnds to maintain reasonable level of reserve to maintain future tharitable activities. FUTURE PLANS The band has a history extending back to the early 1 ￿ Century. For this coming year the charity plans lo continue its longstanding role in the cx)mmunity as follows: . Through the delivery of concerts. the leading of parades and other civic functions and the foslering of the Christmas spirit through its longstanding historical festive activities. Through the free provision of tuition to all who wish to learn to play a Brass instrument- By maintaining the highest posslble slandlng DT the senlor band in the wid¢r Bra83 Band world.
