The Teinple 15 open to the public by appointment 365 day5 a yeaT. The Temple Hall is relatively small and public visi15

Visitors are made welcome al early lunch that is followed with a blessing by the Monk5.
Several Buddhi5l ceremonies are held throughout the year on Special Buddhist days.
There are several significant a¢tLVIt1¢5 which &ttra¢t rnany attendees and iequire the use of IArger premises.
For Kaihina and Songkrdn (Thai New Yearl Wat Thai Southend have hired a publi¢ fa¢ility Runneyinede Hall.
Thundersley which can accommodate up to 300 att¢ndee5. These even¢s include chanting by the Monks. som¢ gf whoiii
will ￿. vi51tin¥ froim oihtr 1'empl¢s fvllowed by a food off¢rsng for the Monks and tl)osc attending. Th¢ ¢v¢nls will
include a celebration with a parade and music.
Wat Thai Southend have also used local ffslauranls for other events which would atlrAcl up lo l 00 people.
The Trus¢ees have reviewed the ￿lIVi11¢S undertaken foi the public benefit and confimi their ¢ompliance with this duty.
The Monks regularly vÉsjt outside or8ani5ations to demonstrnie chanting and meditation and to carry out ble55ings.
Wat Thai Southend has attained Home Office Sponsorship status which enables the Charity to Sponsor Monks to visit
the UK for periods UP to two years subject lo certain conditions.

The r)harma talk is given by monks that is the talk Hboui DhannA principles of ihe Buddha thai can be followed in daily IIVLS of
people also broadcgsi online. Also, the meditation prdclice will be used in dully life of them with wisdom and ¢ons¢iousnes5 for
those who are interested in prn¢lieing and parti¢ipating.
2. ShoplRestaurantlHouse blessing ceTemonies supported by Wat Thai Southend Monks
Shop, Restauran¢ and House blessing are a Buddhist Iradition that can be found in Buddhist and Thai belief in the Uniied

3. Vesak DAY Sernion ceTemony by Wat Thai Southend
Vesak Day sermon is one of the most important Buddhist fe51iv81s. It is also known as Vesak Day or Buddha Day. It is
celebration of Buddha's birthday and for some Buddhists and marks his ¢nlighicnmenl (when he discovercd life's meaning). li is
also a lime to reflect on his teachings and whpt it means to be a Buddhist.
On the Vesak day. Thai Buddhists like to make merit and offer food to monks in the morning, 8150 arrdnge 5we¢t and 5avory dcck
to make merit and offer food to monks at the temple. including sharing the merit lo deceased relatives. doing mediiaiion. listening
to s¢rnion5. keepin8 Buddhist precepis that may have other merils su¢h a5 not doing sins. mainly doing good and following tlic
Buddha's teachings.
Also on that day. there is a ceremony for people to walk around the Buddha statu¢ for 3 rounds in remembrance of the Buddh

4. Tod Phapa Ceremony {Robe-Offering eeretnony tn Buddhisrnl by Wat Thai Southend
Offering robes to Buddhist monks at the temple calls making merit known as otyering robes that is to give robes Its monk5. 11 is
one kind ofmerit makiiig in Buddhism that has been round for lon8 time, the offering n)bes ean be done al any time of the year by
providing and support the monastery by this activity. Moreover. this activity St￿ ngths unity and lov¢ in the ¢ornmunity also
sharing and helping each other between Thais and monks. Then monks get robes to use, afterword those Thai5 r¢c¢ive m¢rit and
the merit givell to dead relatives, then make a wish for happiness, listen to the Dhamia. keep precepts. pray and do meditation
either.
5. Funeral ceremony supported by Wat Thai Southend Monks
A funeral ceremony is Buddhist funeral tradilion and rite for the dead persons whos¢ relative5 WLSh hithr 50uI in peace and make
merit for the deceased. The ritual unique to funeral rit¢s is an offerinbi of robe and ¢loth to monk& thi5 Is called 'Painsukula' that
means 'forsaken robe, Then monks ehant and t¢a¢h Dh8mia to people and r¢laliv¢s of the dead for the benefits such as the nature
of life, life cycle and death called 'Samsara'. The mortks 511PPOrt th¢ relatives ofihe d¢¢ea5¢d by doing the funeral ceremolly
either 01 the Temple or ai a relative's hous¢ of ih¢ de¢¢ased.
6. Prnyer and meditation ceremony hosted by Wai Thai Southend
Many of Buddlii5t festivals such a5 New Year's Eve festival and so on, praying over the year is the beginning of bringing religious
dimensions into the New Year's Eve activity that welcomes the new year with the Sound of prosperity. Buddha's blessing and
prayers for proS￿rity. beginning a new prosperous lif¢. Monks at Wat Thai Southend hosted the praying and mediluting ceTemony
for any pcople who art inter¢sled in the meditation,

ACHIEVEMENT AND PERFORMANCE
Ch4rit4ble activities
The Southend Temple activities during the period ineluded the following.
The Temple is functioning 365 days per year.
Each day start5 Wlth early morning ehanting and meditation that is followed by a food offering to the Monks later in the
moming and a blessing from the Monks. Everyone is given a wami welcome.
Evening chanting takes place that is followed by meditslion. Daily activities are streamed online.
The blessings from the Monks are chanled in the traditional Pali Buddhist language.
Events as prevÉou51y detailed where food is provided free of charge.

prepared in accordance with the Charities SORP IFRS 1021 'Accounting and Reporting by Charities.. Statemeni
of Recommended Prdctice applicable to Charilies preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial
Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) (effective l January 2015),, Financial
Reporting Standard 102 'The Financial Reporting Standard applieable in the UK and Republi¢ of Ir¢land' and the
