|---|---|---|
|Summary of the main
achievements of the charity,
identifying the difference the
charity’s work has made to
the circumstances of its
beneficiaries and any wider
benefits to society as a
whole.|Para 1.20|Level Up Gosport (LUPG) has been established
for almost 13 years, supportng young adults
aged 18 - 25 years to gain self-respect and
confdence via community volunteering for
local charites and organisatons based in and
around Gosport.
LUPG has developed an excellent reputaton
within Gosport and is very proud to announce
that 80% of the vulnerable young people it
supports have gone on to either secure
employment, returned to educaton or to
independently volunteer. However, this
benchmark needed to be evidenced, which is|

why we have involved OWL XL CIC to help us to capture the positive outcomes we are achieving via the software they have developed and monitor. The majority of the young adults that LUPG supports have an additional need or a mild learning/physical (hidden, neurodivergent) disability; or have mental health challenges, like lacking in confidence or high anxiety levels - but are not in receipt of an Education, Health or Care Plan (EHCP) or are NEET (not in Employment, Education or Training). Many come from areas of high deprivation which has been exacerbated by the pandemic and recently because of the cost-of-living crisis. WEXi (Work Experience initiative) has been developed to offer a free, innovative, varied programme of supported outcome-based work experience, partnering with local organisations, businesses and charities, e.g., a local garage, a community-led entertainment venue, Sheltered Housing charity, plus many more. We believe that the young, vulnerable adults we support will receive practical experience (via volunteering), consolidated by training and a support pathway into employment. We launched WEXi in June 2023. In 2023 our young people became Cancer Awareness Youth Ambassadors for Gosport and are continuing to support this initiative. Alongside WEXi, the LUPG young people continue to participate, via generalised community volunteering, at local activities and events, attend a fortnightly volunteers meeting, as well as cultivating their own community allotment, where they learn horticultural skills with the aim of becoming 100% organic and sustainable. The older allotment holders enjoy engaging with, giving advice and exchanging produce with the young people. In 2023 we were very proud and humbled to have received the Kings Award for Voluntary Service, which is the equivalent of an MBE for charities.
