The Objects of Wells Dementa Acton Alliance are :
To promote and protect the physical and mental health of people living with dementia and their carers and families in the community of Wells and its surrounding area, through the provision of support, education, information and practical advice.

Chair - Denise Denis Vice Chair - Claire Chettoe Secretary - Alan Sanderson Finance Officer - Sian Bainbridge Media - Philip Welch Rebecca Mather joined the Trustees in March 2023. Dave Thompson - March 2023-June 2023
Members Meetngs
WDAA have 22 members representing public agencies, community groups and individuals in Wells and the surrounding area. The meetings are also attended, by invitation, by providers of Dementia Services who offer information about their activities.
There have been 6 Members Meetings held since 14 July 2022, with grateful thanks to the Lawrence Centre and Heads Up for providing the venues. There has been a good attendance to the meetings with updates and inputs from members on what their organisations are doing to support people living with dementia. We also had a demonstration of technical support from Connected Living, Aster Housing, which was very helpful. We were shown a
range of home monitor units and wrist and pendant alarms along with other products for providing safety and security in the home.
Trustees Meetngs
In accordance with the Constitution there have been 4 meetings where Trustees have discussed the overall strategy of the charity, reviewed finances and agreed a policy in relation to vulnerable persons and policies on Health and Safety and Data Protection.
Events
WDAA Charity Walk held on Sunday 26 March was supported by approximately 30 walkers and raised £365.
WDAA manned a stall at the Kings Coronation Community Event on 7 May 2023. Prizes were provided for the young participants in a “memory game” and this attracted a good number of young people and the event was a success.
WDAA manned a stand at the VCSE Roadshow on 22[nd] May. Whilst it was a useful setting for networking it failed to attract the interest of the public probably due to the event not being advertised.
WDAA manned a stall at the Wells Moat Races on 28 August Bank Holiday Monday.
Training and informaton
WDAA information sheets and Q&As factsheets have been developed and printed for giving out at events. The Q&As will be given out at future awareness raising sessions.
Trustees Denise Denis and Claire Chettoe have given awareness raising sessions to Mondyes Court, the Bishop’s Palace and Cathedral and the Town Hall this Autumn which include a short video sent out from the Alzheimer’s Society designed to recruit new Dementia Friends.
The WDAA website and Facebook continue to be regularly updated.
Somerset Community Foundaton Grant and New Equipment
Somerset Community Foundation Grant awarded WDAA £1,000 in October which has enabled WDAA to print leaflets, purchase a gazebo, table, tablecloth, collecting buckets, lanyards, first Aid pack and high viz jackets, and pay for venues for meetings of Trustees and Network Meetings.
VCSE afliaton and Working with Other Organizatons in Somerset
WDAA continues to attend the VCSE Dementia Partnership meetings and will be linked to its new website.
There will be further opportunities to contribute and collaborate with other Dementia alliances and the voluntary sector’s Dementia Wellbeing services over the next 12 months.
Supportng Partners
Through fundraising events WDAA has been able to supply radar keys to carers requesting them for their loved one to enable them to use the public toilets for people with disabilities.
WDAA has given a small grant to the Memory Café for future activities.
