## **Trustees Annual Report July2024-July2025**
This year has seen two successful bids for grants , one from the **National Lottery Heritage Fund (NLHF)** and the other from **UKSPFGrassroots** fund,
The award from NLHF is for the project **Stixwould Village Hall: Linking Heritage and Community** and for the following purposes
- Develop a website for the hall and ensure hosting of heritage content for five years in line with digital guidelines.
- Repair and maintain the Grade II Stixwould Village Hall and provide accessible facilities following procurement guidelines and ensuring relevant consents are in place. Repair work involves: repairs to the historic roof (roof structural timbers) and windows. - improving access to the building. - replacing the floor and plasterwork. - updating the kitchen and toilet to meet accessibility standards. - improved insulation, internal secondary glazing and an energy review of existing heating systems to become environmentally sustainable.
- Carry out a community audit to inform future uses for the Village Hall including events and services which might be needed.
- Carry out a volunteer skills audit and training programme for Trustees to gain an understanding of the strengths and weaknesses of the current team.
- Deliver a heritage engagement plan accessible for all the community and new audiences. Including the following as described in application:
- Hard hat tours during the building works.
- A schools and uniformed organisation’s programme focussing on oral history, heritage of the local area and links to citizenship through the Jim Almonds story.
- Displaying the exhibition on ‘Gentleman Jim’ Almonds - SAS founder.
- Talks on the heritage of Stixwould and the local area.
- A schools reminiscence café linked to Heritage Open Days, including opportunity for people to reminisce about the history of the hall and have their memories recorded for inclusion on the hall's website.
- Develop interpretation and interpretation ideas through:
- Heritage research at the archives to inform interpretation resources including schools' packs and an interpretation board.
- Interpretation workshops to involve people in deciding on the topics for inclusion in the interpretation and heritage plaque. -
- Installing an interpretation board near to the old railway station at Stixwould that tells the story of the village, and its rich heritage .
- Evaluate of the project in line with The National Lottery Heritage Fund guidance.
- Hold a project celebration event.
- High visibility acknowledgement of The National Lottery Heritage Fund on site, online and in all activities, as well as using the project to acknowledge and thank National Lottery players.
The **UKSPFGrassroots** grant of £9200 was awarded to create a community garden (match funding from the NLHF grant), install a commemorative bench and a new village notice board.
## **PROGRESS and REVIEW**
Both grants were received in October 2024 and subject to regular progress reporting and review by the funders.
As of July 2025 all of the objectives are being met and funders are content that the projects continue to fulfil the grant aims, are on time and within budget.
The hall has been out of use for a time while the building work is taking place so fundraising activities have been severely curtailed.
