Supporting local residents with their mental health through the provision of social 5cssions, therapeuti¢ a¢tivi¢ie$ and

Our craft and art 5e5sions haye proved popular with sessions running on paper rnaking, felting. weaving, sewin
painting 2nd more. These ¢r¢ative sessions can leave members with a sense of achievem¢nt and pride in what they have
mad¢. Th¢ $¢3sions have boosted members morglle, their self-confidence and 8iv¢n many a ¢r¢ative outl¢t to the
emotion5 thcy may be battling.
We run Tai Chi 5¢8sions in Oakham and meditation at both centres. These offer members an hour to de-compress. calm
their mind5 and the 5ki115 to cary this on at home.
The charity also rnns gardening sessions. 'Green prescribing, is becoming a popular phenomofton in the world of menial
healthcare. We have Seen the great benefits being surrounded by nature* planting seeds to look forward to in the fijrnre

their new skills home to start their own projects and we have been able to develop a vibrdnt, 5cnsory space to enjoy
each week. Pepper's. A Safe Place is very gratefijl to the team at Oakham Fire Ststion for allowing us to use their

Reserves are that part of a charity's Utwestricted funds that is freely available to Spend on any of the charity's purposes.
We feel it is prudent to keep a maximum of one year and a minimum of six months of our annual budgei in reserves. As
of 30th September 2023, we have £75947 in unresiricted ￿nds. £50,000 of these fund5 hav¢ been allocated io running

Our policy reflects our commitments to rnn a sustainable And resilicnt charity. Our ¢harity hos a high level of fixed

their prioritie8 and remil and there are no 8uarantecs for continued support, We are committed to supporting our Staff.
keeping mission critical work on the road and honouring any contractual agrcements. such as leases. Therefore, 1¢ 15
important to us to have appropriate reserves in place to coyer any shortfall$ and gap$ in funding.
We feel this level of reserves will ensure that we can plan and make provision a9 appropriat¢ ¢0 our mission, and that
we ¢an continu¢ to honour our commitments to lease a8reements, staff ond commi55ioning bodies.
Our reserves are only to be used to cover Shortfalls in restricted funding, for ¢￿QntI&l and unplanned Works and

Peppees board of trustees will regularly review this policy and our reserves to en5ur¢ proper financial management.
Ourvtslon
Our charity works with members of our community with a wide range of backgrounds. Some may be battling with
ongoing and serious mental health conditions, for example. schizophrenia. paranoia or depression, others may not hav¢
a diagnosed mental illness and are reaching out solely for connection with oih¢r5 and to CQTnbai loneliness. Pcpper'5- A
Safe Place aim5 to continue supporting residents, reaching those who are isolaied and improving znental health where
we can.
Our sessions provide loeals with a sense of community. empowemient through newfound skills and an escE4pe from
whatever stNggles they may experience outside of our centre.
We will continue offering qualiry activities and will look to increase the number of s¢8sions we otTer. As a member led
organisation we will listen to feedback at sessions and from events around th¢ cotnmunity. We will trial ses5ion5 and
thos¢ that are successful and provide a benefit to the public we will endeavour to sour¢¢ funding to cover long temi. We
ar¢ looking at running, music. chair yoga and Melton gardening in the ncar future.
We will continue to develop our connections with fellow community group5 by attcndin8 networking events, steering
groups and inviting support services into our ¢entres. For example, MADMAC to run money advice sessions and the
RCC to energy bill advice drop-ins.
We hope to continue successfully sourcing ￿ndS to run our Centres. regularly assessing our futUTe and ensuring our
charity's sustainability.
To manage the increase in workload5 we will lean on volunteer SUPF>Ort and hire additional staff as the need arises. Our
Board is made up of meTnbers of the cornmunity with diverse backgrounds, skills and connections. We will continue to
¢nsure the susiainability of this board, recrusting new trnstees to fill skills gap where Tequired.
We are looking forward to the next chapter of PeppeVs- A Safe Place and the support we may be able to bring to our
communities.
