CAFU was founded immediately after the invasion of Ukraine on 24 February 2022. 2. We immediately started collecting funds and goods to be sent to support those in need in Ukraine. 3. We were approved by the Charities Commission and became a registered charity on 71h July 2022. OBJECTIVES l. Operate a low overhead registered charity to provide support to those in need in Ukraine, for the duration of the invasion and beyond, including the rebuilding of the country, 2. Provide help to orphan5, physically and mentally challenged adults and children, mothers with babies, displaced persons, recently widowed families, the elderly, the vulnerable, and injured soldiers and civilians. 3. Establish a reliable and least cost logistics channel to transfer donated or purchased goods from Chorleywood to our charity colleagues in Brovary Inear Kyiv), Ukraine. safely and securely. 4. Only deal with re8lStered charities re108iStics and distribution within both U K and Ukraine. OPERATIONS Our operations fall into 2 categories.. l. Collecting, sorting, packing, labelling and shipping goods to Ukraine. around 80 bags or 800 kgs, every 3 months. This comprises both donated items such as clothing and bedding, plus purchased items such as medical, hygiene, baby and food. We only ship what our charity partner in Brovaryi near Kyiv, specifically request. 2. In urgent circumstances, or where goods can be purchased more efficiently at the far end. we transfer cash to our registered Ukraine charity partner. after receiving specific requests and C05tings. The transfers are made from our registered charity account to their registered charity
account. Typically, we help with items such as portable cooking stoves, cookware, winter sleeping bags, and first aid. This past year included funds towards a replacement van for transport. LOCAL UKRAINE LADIES PACKING TEAM A team of 10-15 local Ukraine ladies regularly help us with sorting, packing, weighing, and customs indexing, 3-4 times per year, I van load at a time, around 800 kgs in 80 bags. A dedicated, hard working and loyal team indeed. CHARITY PARTNERS l. From Dreams to Reality charitable foundation in Brovary, near Kyiv, distribute the aid we send, and they support orphans, mental institutions, special needs children, hospitals, displaced persons, mothers, babies, refugees, widowed families. And those injured, both soldiers and civilians. 2. Kent Relief is our UK registered charity partner who arrange freight forwarding from their Kent hub at Tunbridge Wells, to their Lviv hub in Ukraine, and further co-ordinate with us the onward transfer of goods across Ukraine from Lviv to 8rovary, Kyiv, and onward to other charity destinations.
