## **Annual Report on October 9th, 2023**

## **FORMATION**

- CAFU was formed immediately after the invasion of Ukraine on 24[th] February 2022.

- We immediately commenced collecting funds & goods to be sent to support those in need in Ukraine.

- During this initial 4-month period, & prior to the application to the Charities Commission being approved & becoming a registered charity on July 7[th] , 2022, our revenue and expenditure were as below:

- During this period, we operated with a limited logistics chain but with personally known registered charity contacts in Brovary, near Kyiv.

## **OBJECTIVES**

1. Operate a low overhead registered charity to provide support to those in need in Ukraine, for the duration of the invasion and beyond, including the rebuilding of the country.

2. Provide help to orphans, physically & mentally challenged adults & children, mothers with babies, displaced persons, recently widowed families, the elderly, the vulnerable, and injured soldiers & civilians.

3. Establish a dependable & least cost logistics channel to transfer donated or purchased goods from Chorleywood to our charity colleagues in Brovary, Ukraine (near Kyiv).

4. Only deal with registered charities re logistics and distribution within Ukraine.

## **OPERATIONS**

Our operations fall into 2 categories:

1. Sorting, packing, labelling & shipping goods to Ukraine, around 100 bags or 1 ton in weight, every 2-3 months. This comprises both donated items such as clothing, bedding & childrens toys, plus purchased items such as medical, hygiene, baby & food. We only ship what our charity partner in Brovary, near Kyiv, specifically request. In the fiscal year to June 30[th] , 2023, we purchased **£6,350** of medical, hygiene, baby & food items, and spent **£5,169** on packing and shipping.

2. In urgent circumstances, or where goods can be purchased more efficiently at the far end, we transfer cash to our registered Ukraine charity partner, after receiving specific requests & costings. The transfers are made from our registered charity account to their registered charity Euro account. In the fiscal year ended June 30[th] , 2023, we transferred **£10,276** for specific projects _**including**_ portable cooking stoves, winter sleeping bags & bedding for 55 newly orphaned children from Bakhmut & Mariupol on arrival at a Kyiv dormitory (pictured below).
