Charity Structure and Legal Status

All expenditure and activities must be agreed with the Chairman and/or the treasurer, and if required, approved within committee meetings.
Principal Activities
Our vision is to nurture and nourish our pupils so that they contribute to society.
We hold the firm belief that instilling strong Islamic morals and teachings at an early age in our children will develop them into the productive future members of society that our vision statement aspires.
We want our children to hold a clear distinction between right and wrong.
Every aspect of our curriculum has been given meticulous attention with the view to provide the best outcomes for our children.
The founding members are individuals from various social and ethnic backgrounds, primarily based in the borough of Calderdale. In recognition of the social problems within our community, we supplement the efforts of parents and educators to support our children’s educational success.
We are currently renovating new premises to accommodate more pupils to serve an ever demanding and challenging catchment area and aim to be operating from the new premises in term September 2024.
Activities and events:
Running of an independent school based in Halifax, West Yorkshire.
Operating other education initiatives through education, sports and welfare projects to raise the standards of Education in west Yorkshire.

Independent Examiner’s Report on the Accounts of the Beacon Lights Educational Trust
Respective responsibilities of trustees and independent examiner.
The charity trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. The charity’s trustees consider that an audit is not required this year (under section 43(2) of the Charities Act 1993 (The Act)) and that an independent examination is needed.
It is my responsibility to:
-
Examine the accounts (under section 43(3)(a) of the Act);
-
Follow the procedures laid in the general directions given by the Charity Commissioners (under section 43)7)(b) of the Act; and
-
State whether particular matters have come to my attention.
Basis of Independent examiner’s statement
My examination was carried out in accordance with General Directions given by the Charity Commissioners. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from the trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently I do not express an audit opinion on the accounts.
Independent examiners statement
In connection with my examination, no matter has come to my attention;
-
1) which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in any material respect the requirements;
-
to keep accounting records in accordance with section 41 of the 1993 Act. and
-
to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and comply with the accounting requirements of the Act. have not been met; or
-
2) to which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
