## **Trustees Report – Financial Year 2023**

Charity no. 1199515

The Trustees of the Church of New Cannan Pinner present their annual report and accounts for the year ended 31 December 2023 and confirm they comply with the requirements of the Charities Act 1993, as amended by the Charities Act 2006, the trust deed and the Charities SORP 2005.

## **OUR OBJECTIVES**

Our church continues to be a hub of spiritual growth, community engagement, and fellowship, with each ministry working to serve and uplift both members and the wider community. Here’s an update on our core ministries and activities this year:

## 1. Sunday Services

Sunday services are designed to be welcoming and inclusive, encouraging not only church members but also our wider community to join in worship and fellowship. Through meaningful sermons, prayer, and worship, we strive to build a stronger, faith-filled community open to everyone seeking spiritual connection and support.

## 2. Youth and young adult Ministry

Our Youth Ministry is dedicated to training and equipping young people for leadership in the church. Every month, youth members receive guidance and resources that help them develop skills to serve the next generation. They also have the opportunity to lead worship and participate in the music ministry weekly, gaining experience and confidence. Additionally, our Praise and Worship Nights in the summer provide a unique, community-centred experience, encouraging local youth to connect through music, faith, and fellowship. A special summer day filled with games and fellowship, as well as inclusive Christmas season gatherings, further enhances youth and community involvement.

## 3. Men’s Ministry

Our Men’s Ministry holds monthly gatherings focused on Bible study and discussions on how to apply scripture in daily life and lead by example in family, work, and community. These sessions provide a supportive environment for men to deepen their faith, share experiences, and strengthen their commitment to leadership grounded in faith.

## 4. Ladies’ Ministry

The Ladies’ Ministry hosts monthly gatherings for Bible study, where women come together to explore scripture, discuss its application in life, and encourage one another to be leaders within their families and communities. These sessions are a source of fellowship, support, and empowerment, helping women live out their faith with purpose and confidence.

## 5. Children’s Ministry

Our Children’s Ministry offers Sunday School classes that nurture young children’s spiritual growth through age-appropriate lessons and activities. Children also have opportunities to use their unique gifts within the church, whether by participating in services or helping with special events. We aim to create a welcoming, engaging space where children feel connected to their faith and church family.

## 6. Christmas Carol and Fellowship Dinner

Each year, our church celebrates the Christmas season by hosting a special Christmas Carol service, open to the entire community. This event includes a festive evening of music, reflection, and fellowship, followed by a shared dinner that brings everyone together in the spirit of the season. It’s a cherished annual tradition that strengthens bonds within our congregation and with our neighbours.

## 7. Home Visits

The home visit ministry has been a core outreach program this period, providing care and support to both members and non-members. Our team visited those who were ill, offering prayers and support to meet practical needs, ensuring they feel connected and uplifted by the church community. We also conducted visits to bereaved families, where we provided emotional support, prayer, and counselling to help them navigate their grief. Additionally, we engaged in family counselling sessions, addressing specific challenges and fostering stronger family bonds through faith-based guidance and encouragement.

## 8. Weekly Prayer Meetings

Our weekly prayer meetings on Wednesdays via Zoom have grown steadily, allowing members and the broader community to connect regardless of location. This accessible format has enabled a larger participation base, where we come together to pray for the sick, address individual needs, and lift up collective concerns. In these sessions, we also intercede for the United Kingdom and global peace, standing in solidarity with the wider community for the well-being of all.

## 9. Easter Services

Easter remains a central annual event, with special services held on Good Friday and Easter Sunday. This year, we focused on outreach by sharing the good news of Jesus Christ with our community. Invitations were dropped to households in the area, encouraging attendance and engagement with our Easter services. The services were well-attended and provided a meaningful way for us to connect with new people, share Christ's message of hope and redemption, and foster a welcoming atmosphere within our church.

The End of Financial year 2023 Net receipts for Church of New Cannan Pinner were £5,142.

Objectives for 2024 remain the same as 2023 financial year.

I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination (other than that disclosed below *) which gives me cause to believe that in, any material respect:

- the accounting records were not kept in accordance with section 130 of the Charities Act; or

- • the accounts did not accord with the accounting records; or • the accounts did not comply with the applicable requirements concerning the form and content of accounts set out in the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 other than any requirement that the accounts give a ‘true and fair’ view which is not a matter considered as part of an independent examination.

I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
