Obtained Listed Building Consent (LBC) for commencing the restoration work needed on the Rochdale Hope Chap81 Heritage Centre (RCHCHC) to ensure that this would ba carried out in an appropriate and sympathetic manner. Identified companies and individuals wth the necessary skills and experien to undertake the work needed to meet the requirements of the LBC. In addition to this was sourcing specialist materials for the renovation works such as the lime plaster, the colour rnatched distemper paint, and replacement windowsills. This was aided by the RHCHC chaiman relocating to Rochdale to oversee the works that needed to take place. Established links with indtviduals and congregations worshipping in Holland who had expressed an interest in the work of the RHCHC by freely volunteering their time and donating monies to the Herrtage Centre. Obtained 'exempt status, under the Listed Places of Worship Scheme for reclaiming VAT on the eligible elements of the restoration work being undertaken at the Heritage Centre. Established links with the Gospel Standard Trust IGST) publications who kindly off8r8d copies of surplus books containing links to Rochdale and the surrounding area for the work of the Heritage Centre. Work, in anticipation of the opening of the Heritage Centre in late 2024. commenced on republishing the autobiography of John Kershaw who was the minister of Rochdale Hope Chapel for more than 52 years in the 19th Century In addition, the Charty has collected a range of artefacts and memorabilia that will be incorporated into the Herrtage Centre exhibits. Achievements and Perfonnance The main athievement of the Charity during this second reporting period has been obtaining the listed building consent so that works were able to commence on restoring the Ro¢hdale Hope Chapel la Grade Il. listed building) as part of the planned opening ofthe RHCHC in late 2024. The Herttage Centre will be a record in testimony to the impact that nonconfomiists had on Rochdale and the surrounding area in the 19" and 20tr1 centuries particularly in supporting those in povety and being a voice for the poor and needy during this time.
