|Summary of the main<br>achievements of the charity,<br>identifying the difference the<br>charity’s work has made to<br>the circumstances of its<br>beneficiaries and any wider<br>benefits to society as a<br>whole.|Para 1.20|**Our activities:**<br>In the year ending March 2023, Seven<br>Friends Foundation Trustees agreed on<br>our purpose as an organisation and our<br>application criteria.<br>We agreed that the Foundation’s funds will<br>be used to support charitable causes that<br>are considered unpopular or do not receive<br>widespread public attention.<br>This could be due to negative focus within<br>the media; due to difficulty in accessing<br>statutory, voluntary and institutional<br>funding; and/or due to the cause being<br>seen as politically controversial.<br>Examples of these types of causes or<br>groups may be:<br>• Asylum seekers and refugees<br>• Migrant communities<br>• Offenders and ex-offenders<br>• People experiencing violence or abuse<br>• Sex workers<br>• Trafficking and modern slavery<br>• Dependency or Addiction<br>• LGBT+<br>• Sexual and reproductive health<br>Trustees decided to support smaller groups<br>and organsations with an average annual<br>income of £300,000.<br>A number of our Trustees have extensive<br>experience in the charity sector and<br>recognise the huge challenges such<br>organisations face in securing funds.<br>We opened our application process during<br>this annual year, however, no grants were<br>awarded during this period.|

During this period the trustees opened a bank account and donations were made with the view to award grants in the next reporting year. Therefore there is no expenditure reported in this year.

|Other – Independent<br>Examination||The trustees have a legal duty under the<br>Charities Act 2011 to appoint ‘an<br>independent person who is reasonably<br>believed by the trustees to have the<br>requisite ability and practical experience to<br>carry out a competent examination of the<br>accounts’.<br>The trustees appointed Paul Allen to carry<br>out the independent examination. Mr Allen<br>is a trustee’s parent and as such the<br>trustees considered whether he would be<br>influenced or perceived to be influenced by<br>his relationship. After seeking advice from|





the local Council for Voluntary Service (CVS) and considering: a. His suitable and extensive skills and experience in managing finances in his career, voluntary work and understanding of the charity sector. b. There was no other connection to the charity; not as a donor, involvement with the running of the charity, nor a financial or commercial relationship with the charity or trustees. The trustees were satisfied that the examination would be carried out in line with guidance and regulations.

As the trustees of the charity. you are responsible for the prepar*ion of th8 financlal slatemeTts in
accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 ('the Act,).
I report in respect of my examination of the charivs financial ststements caThied out under section
145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination I have followed all the applicable Directlons
given by the Charity Cornmission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.

I have CA)mpleted my examination. I confimi that no Material matters have come to my attention in
connection with the examination in giving me cause to believe that in any materi81 respecL
accounting records were not kept in respect of the Trust as required by section 130 of the
Charities Act 2011; or
2. 2 the accounts do not accord with those records; or
3. the accounts do not comply with the applicable requirements conceming the fomi and content
of accounts set out in the Charities ( Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 other Ihan any
requiremenl that the accounts glve a true and fair view vthlch is not a matter considered as
part of an independent examination.
I have no concems and have come across no other matters in connection with the exam1r￿lI0rt to
