The trustees present their report and accounts for the year ended 31 March 2023.
The accounts comply with the Charities Act 2011 and Accounting and Reporting by Chariti* Staternent
of Recommended Practice applicable lo charttie5 preparing their accounts in accordance with the
Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of IreLand IFRS 1021 (effective l January

Appucatlon to rnglster and cy-p￿ scheme
The Trustees submitted an application to register as a charity with The Charity Commission, togethw with
an application of property cy-près pursuant lo the Charities Act 2011. On 23 June 2022 the Trustee5
received confirmation that the St Aldhelm's Chapel T¥ust is included on the Register with the Registered
Charity Number 1199398 wlth additional secondary purposes once its princlpal objective has been
achieved,
Objects and actlvltles
The principal objective of the Fund is the presetvation and maintenance of St. Aldhelm's Chapel for the
celebration of divine services.
To the extent that the primary purpose has been achieved the Trustees may at their absolute discretion
apply surplus income to several focused areas including..
Supporting the physlcal and menlal health of HM Armed forces
The prevention of crime and the rehabI￿tatIOn of prisoners
- The relief of physical and mental iUne55
- The advancement of education

The Fund has a portfolio of listed investments that had a market value of £7,728,839 12022., £7,695,850) at
31 March 2023. The trustees receive investmer)t advice from Cazenove CapitaL

Th& trustees have considered the guidance provided by the Charity Commisgon w￿h regard to meeting
the pubbc benefit objective and are satisfied that the aclivits'es undertaken during the year fully meet
these rèquirements.

The trustees are responsible for proparing the Trustees, report and the accounts in accordance with
appucable law and regulations,
The law applicable to charities in England and Wales requires the trustees to prepare accounts for each
financial year in accordance with United Kingdom Generally Aceepted Accounting Practlce (United
Kingdom Accounting Standards and applicable reguiationsl. Under that law the trustees must not
approve the accounts unless they are satisfied that they give a true and fair view of the state of affairs of
the trust and of the incoming resources and appllcation of resources of the trust for that year.
In preparing these accounts. the trustees are required to..
select suitable accounting policles and then apply them conslstently.,
observe the methods and principles in the Charities SORP.,
make judgements and estimates that are reasonable and prudent
state whether applicable accounting standards have been followed. subject to any material departures
disc105ed and explained in the accounts.. and
prepare the accounts on the going concern basis unless it is inapproprlate to presume that the charity
will continue in operation.
The trustees are responsible for keeping adequate accounting lecords which are sufficient to show and
explain the trust's transactions and disclose with reasonable accuracy at any time the financial position of
the trust and enable them to ensure that the accounts comply with the Charities Act 2011, the Charities
(Accounts and Reports) ReguLations 2008 and the provisions of the trust deed. They are also responsible
for safeguarding the assets of the charity and hence for taking reasonable steps for the preventian and
detection of fraud and other irregutarities.

I report in respect of my examination of the charity's accounts carried out under section 145 of the Act
and in carrying out my examination I have followed all the app￿.CabLe Directions given by the Charity
Commission under sects.on 1451511bl of the Act.

The accounts have been prepared in accordance with Accounting and Reporting by Charities..
statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance
with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Iretand IFRS 1021
(effective l January 20191.
The accounts have been prepared under the historical cost convention, as modified to include the
revaluation of certain assets
The trustees confirm that the charity is a public benefit entity as defined by FRS 102.
The accounts are prepared on a going concern basis.
L2 Fund aceountlng
General funds are unrestricted funds which are available for use al the discretion of the trustees in
furtherance of the general objects of the charity and which have not been designated for other
purposes.
L3 Income
AU Income is credited to the statement of financial activiti￿ in the period in which it is receivable.
1.4 Expendltuye
Liabiknties are recognised as resources expended as soon as there is a legal or constructive
obligation committing the charity to the expenditure. All expenditure is accounted for on an accrua
basis and has been cLassified under the headings that aggregate all costs related to the category.
The costs ofraising funds include investment management fees.

ChapeL Following the charity's registration with The Charity Commission and confirmation of its
additional secondary purposes once its principal objectlve has been achieved. charitable activities
now also include grants to institutions.
other costs consist of costs not directly attributable to direct charitable expenditure but which are in
respect of the general administration of the charity and overall management of funds.

Fixed asset investments are stated at mid-market value at the balance sheet date. ALL investments

reimbursed any expenses during the current or prior year.
The Lytchett Estate (business name for which Lord Rockley is sole trader) charges the St Aldheim's
Chapel Trust £1.650 per annum for maintaining the burial ground. Currey & Co LLP are the soucitors
to the St Aldhelm's Chapel Trust and charge on a time spent basis for legal advice in connection with
the charity. William Swan 15 a partner of Currey & Co LLP.
