## Chairpersons Report 

Welcome to everyone here this evening and thank you all for your attendance. 

Thank you, Arwyn, for your support again as vice-chair and for taking the chair in my absence and also for your dedication with Christmas Bingo, Yearly Plant Sale and the Coffee Morning talk on the Eden Project with Jeanna. 

Thank you, Maria, for your excellent minutes of the monthly meetings and also for organising and setting up of the Local Producers Market which has also extended to having 3 crafts a year. This has proved to be a huge success and brought the Villagers together. Not forgetting Norrie for his help too. 

Thank you Fredena for all your loyalty and hard work as treasurer over many years and providing us with your delicious cakes. 

Thank you, Tony, for your continuing support of maintenance of the grounds and organising bookings. Also, for checking the defibrillator and keep pads in date for use. Not forgetting the Thursday night short mat bowls during the winter months. Diolch to Dilwyn and tony for their help for getting quotes for laying of loft insulation and new school radiators. We are hoping to make improvements in stages. 

Diolch, I Peter for your hard work and contribution regarding Charity commission and meeting with Solicitors regarding Land registry. 

Thank you, Grace as Grants Officer, in helping us get a grant of £5000 from Williams Brownhill CIO and I would like to thank Paul and Grant for their help too with various events and activities. 

Thank you, Dr Gordon Lewis and his wife Hilary for the Wine tasting fundraising event, last November and coming to our coffee morning to give us a talk on Care in Uganda. 

Thank you, Dan Beynon, for your help in updating events on the Capel Dewi website. 

Diolch yn fawr I Catrin for organising the Eisteddfod Fach which l believe was a big success. 

Even though Xmas was a long time ago l would like to thank to Helen Gibbon for help and assistance in organising the Carol Singing with me and playing the piano and singing. l also wants to thank Grace again for her idea of memory baubles on the Christmas tree outside the old school and fundraising for the Capel Dewi community association and for Carmarthenshire County Council for their Toybox Appeal. 

Reflecting on this year as chairperson, the committee have given our community a varied range of events to bring residents together while fundraising to maintain our old school for the benefit of wellbeing, cultural and education as a focal point. Last August Maria, Grace, Paul and Myself had a stand at the Llanarthne Village Show were we were able to promote the Capel Dewi Old School  and its Hire facilities , and were able to do a little fundraising with the sale of a few of Dad’s books. Our Calendar is getting busy as the regular Quilting is on Tues and Thurs, Art classes once a month on a 



weds. We welcomed a new resident Mrs Mairwen Jones who came to take Welsh taster sessions in Capel Dewi, this was held for 4 weeks last February and was a great success for all who joined, she made it fun to learn Welsh in an easy and informal way. The introduction of Yoga classes with Lynne every Friday morning has proved to be very popular and even had men attend. We have our regular monthly coffee mornings and have had a range of very good speakers to talk about their hobbies and interests as well as a raffle. Most recently Micheal Claxton from Towy View came to talk about his time at the Met Police and about his detective stories. Unfortunately, the Old School Disco was postponed but we hope to hold it in the not-too-distant future. 

I would personally like to thank everyone for their support over the last 2 years during my time as chairperson. As most of you are aware I will be out of the country for much of the year and l don’t believe l would be able to do justice to the role. However, l will continue to give help and support when l am back home.
