The Church has provided a w88kly service of public worship 8very Sunday. 11 h85 C81ebrated Holy Communion
at least monthly and has provided a Young Church activity for children and young people at least tV￿ce
monthty. It has conducted regular Bib￿ Study. prayer and sUPPOrt activities to nurture Christian cotnmunity,
education. growth and discipleship and has provided 8 weekly drop-in coffee moming for the general public. The

Although the Church is not a grant making bcéy as such, it provides through ils g8n8ral funds for gifts to 8UPPDrt
a variety of Christian mission8ry or9anisalions and through which th8 Church m88ts ils objectiv88. All Baptist
churches are encouraged to make a regular donation lo Home Mission and BMS Worfd Mission., Didsbury
Baptist Church has observed this practice for many years and budgets to do so annually out of its income. It
also supports Northern Baptist College 85 the bcal cdlege for the training of Baptist rnini5ters. with which it has
had strong links for a long peri￿.

Worship and Prayer
Services of worship continue to be held every Sunday moming. The Size of our posl-pandemiG Gongregabon is
increasing slightly, and WÈ tononue to livestream our Sunday mornlng sÈrvicÈ online lo a small but signifltant
nUmtr￿r of people.
W8 continu8 to off8r a Sunday Moming Young Church activity on th& first and third Sundsy mornings of each
month.
Our regular Wednesday morning prayer gsthering continues to be held online every Wedne8d8y at 9am via
Zoom.
Pastoral Care
The church generally offers weekly small group sctivities for Christian education. prayer and 5UPFK)rt 8ither in
the sanctuary or online via Zoom. During Lent we held an ecumenical stu(ty Series based on the book l Thirst by
Stephen Cottrell on Wednesday evenings.
In Holy WÈÈk. mÈmbÈrs of our congregation and gUQStS galhÈred for a bring-and.sharÈ mÈal and famity friendly
Hdy Communion service on Maundy Thursday.
In April, the church provided an all-day First Aid tralnlng course for 9 members of the congregatlon.
Some of our church m8mb8rs are unable 10 8tt8nd serwices and activiti88 du8 to sicknes8 or age. Our minist8r,
Robert Parkin80n, h88 Vlsited 811 who hav8 r8qU&Sted it, and conlinu8s to s88k out those Mth pastoral n88ds
and to meet, support, and prdyNVith them in their homes wherever appropriate.
Our membership numbers remained stsble. Two people joined our membership bul, sadly, one died. and we
dosed the reporting period wth a metnbership of 50.

Mission
During the reporting year, the church has continued to cdlect food items in support of our local foodbank.
piovide sandwches for a local homelessness outreach, participated in Christian Aid appea15. SUPPOrted the
work of 8MS Wodd miss￿￿ and supported the work of Baptist Hotne Mi55ion. the NWBA'Count Me In. 5therne
and Northem Baptist Colkge.
Ourweekly drotFin wffee tnoming activity. Friday Friends. tnet every Friday tnoming in the sanctuary fro
10.303m until 12.30pm. While all are welcome. the event largely attracts older petsp￿ In need of ¢ompany and
social Int8raction. Between 8 and 15 people wer& usually in all•ndanc&.
The Church agr88d to prepare to run an Alpha Course in the Autumn of 2023 a8 on8 way of introducing others
lo the Christian faith. A team w88 recruited, and Alpha team training sessions were held in June 2023.
Ecumenical Relationship8
Didsbury 8aptisl Church is a rnernbei of Churches Working Togelhei in Didsbury. Our tnini51er. Robert
Parkinson. attends regular Clergy and Leaders. gatherings and the church participates in the annual pulpit
exchange and in services and events organised bythe group. We participated again. for example, in the annual
ecumenical Pulpit Exchange during the Week of PrHyerfor Christian Unity Hnd in the annual eGutnenical Lent
Course. We also participated in the annual F￿e Churthes, Friday Service that took place at East
Didsbury Methodist Church. Didsbury Baptist Church hosted the ecumenital World Day of Prayer In March
2023.
The Church Building
In fulfilmenl of the church's alms to seNe the people of the local area, th& premises are used by many
community groups and for a great variety of ¢ommunity a¢tivities. The sanctuary reguladyfun¢tions as a concert
venue, rehearsal spate. and day-conference site. It is used regularly as a polling station and as a hub for
community gathtrings.
The Church commis8ion8d a Quinquennial Buildings R8view in January thst idenlifi8d variou8 Item8 r8quiring
attention. These were noted and prioritised. In July, work w8s carried out to repair FK>inting failures on Several of
the buttresses, as well as repair work to the boundary wall of the property. Further pointing failures on several
remaining buttresses were identified and the trustee5 are planning for repairs to be carried out soon, in addition
to the other itnprovetnents noted in the buildings review. The additional expenditure which will bp ￿qui￿d has
been included in the budgetfor the 202312024 financial year.

Subject to any specific or general directions of the Church Members, Meeting and the provisions of the

General Fund
Re￿Ipts
Thanks lo the continued generosity of members of the ¢hur¢h and cOr￿[egatiOn £33.438 was rèceived through
general giving. These donations are made predominantly by slanéing order. but the taking of an offering during
Sunday worship services was reinstated during th& period and has led to an Increase in cash giving compared
with the two pr&vious financial years.
Ther8 wtre also somt donations via lh8 Charilits Aid Foundation, 8 one-off donation direct lo Iht church and
some misc8118n8ous donations for sp8cific purposes, including the Impact Week8nd. Donations of £240
nominated specrfically for the hardship fund were made.
A thanksgiving offering was taken in May lo celebrate payng off the loan on the manse. Thi5 raised £602 which
was donated to th8 North W8stern Baptist Association'8'Counl me in, proj8Ct.

Budgeted donations of £4,470 w8re mad8 to other causes IBMS World Mission, Baptist Hom8 Mission and

through the church account. The thanksgiving donation to NWBA'Counl Tne in. was noted above.
At 31 August 2023 the current account stood at £19.013.
Inv8Stm8nl Fund
At 31 Augu812023, the investment account with th8 Baptist Union was valued at £100,629.34, including interest
of £1,546, accru8d from 1 January- 31 August 2023.
Of this £45,000 was designatsd as reserves12022120231.
Manse loan
The final instalmenl of the manse loan w88 paid off in February 2023, and the church has no olh&r loans or
debts oul8landing.

Reserves are held to ensure that the church COU￿ manage a signifltant downtum in either rentals recelpts or
membership giving. Reserves have $8t asid& to cover around 500k of budgeted expenditure over a year
(rounded down wh8r8 activities could b8 poslponedl. This is r8as8ess8d annually by the Trustees and approval
is Sought from the m8mbers wh8n a new budg8t is present8d. For the financial year 202112022 the reserves
were sel 8t s level of £40,000,. for the financisl year 202212023 the reserves were £45,000.

I report to the tru5lee5 on my examination of the accounts of Did5bury Baptist Church (the Trust) for the period ended
31 August 2023.
Respectlve responslbllltles of the Trustees and tho Independent Examlner and the basls of the report
As described on page 7, you, the charity's Trustees, ar8 responsible for the pr8paralion of the financial slalemenls in
accordance wth the Charities Act 2011 and all other applicable Isw and with United Kingdom Generally Accepted
Accounting Practice, applicable to smaller entities, and for being satisfied that the financial statements give a true and
fair view.
The Trustees consider that the audit requirement of Section 144111 ol the Charities A¢1 2011 lthe A¢tl does not apply,
and that th8re is no r8quir8menl in the Governing Docurnent for the conducting of an audit. A8 a consequence, the
Trustees have elected that the financi81 statements be subject lo independent examination.
Having satisfied myself that the finanaal statements are not required to be audited under any legal prowsion, or
