## **Constitution** 

A Church is a registered charity governed by its Constitution. The charity was established to advance the Christian faith and to carry out associated charitable purposes for the public benefit in accordance with the doctrines and practices of its denomination. 

## **Appointment of Trustees** 

Trustees are appointed in accordance with the charity's governing document on the basis of skills, knowledge, and experience needed to manage the charity effectively. 

## **Risk Management** 

The trustees have assessed the major risks to which the charity is exposed and are satisfied that systems and procedures are in place to manage those risks. Key risks include financial sustainability, operational continuity, and regulatory compliance.

The objects of A Church are the advancement of the Christian faith for the benefit of the public, together with the relief of financial hardship and support for the wider community through charitable giving. 

## **Public Benefit** 

The trustees confirm they have had regard to the Charity Commission's guidance on public benefit. The church provides a place of worship and pastoral support open to all, and contributes to charitable causes locally and internationally. 

## **Main Activities** 

During the year ended 5 April 2024, the charity undertook the following activities: 

- Regular Sunday and mid-week worship services open to all members of the public. 

- Bible study groups, prayer meetings, and discipleship programmes. 

- Community outreach, evangelism, and missionary support activities. 

- Financial support to individuals and charitable organisations including Compassion UK and local churches. 

- Church events, retreats, and ministry training seminars. 

- Provision of audio-visual and live-streaming facilities. 

## **4. Achievements and Performance** 

During the accounting period from 6 April 2023 – 5 April 2024, key highlights included: 

- Continued provision of regular weekly worship services and congregational care. 

- Ministry expenses of £22,479.84 covering pastoral housing support, guest speaker honorariums, mission trips, and ministry training. 

- Hospitality provided to visiting ministry teams totalling £5,787.30. 

- Charitable donations of £1,828.00 made to Compassion UK, Moriah Church, and Shepherds Church. 

- Investment of £4,332.05 in audio-visual and streaming equipment to enhance ministry reach.

## **Reserves Policy** 

The trustees aim to maintain free reserves of 3–6 months of operating expenditure. At year end, the charity held a closing balance of £35,388.17, which the trustees consider prudent. 

## **Investment Policy** 

The charity does not hold any investments. All funds are held in the charity's bank account with Lloyds Bank. 

## **6. Plans for Future Periods** 

The trustees intend to continue advancing the objects of the charity. Key priorities include: 

- Continuing to provide regular worship services and pastoral care to the congregation. 

- Growing outreach, evangelism, and missionary support activities. 

- Developing discipleship and ministry training programmes. 

- Maintaining prudent financial management and adequate reserves. 

## **7. Trustee Remuneration and Benefits** 

Charity Commission guidance requires that any remuneration or benefit paid to a trustee (or a person connected with a trustee) must be disclosed in the Trustees' Annual Report. 

During the year, the following housing support was provided to Hoasung Kim in his capacity as the charity's pastor:

Hoasung Kim is the Chair of Trustees and serves as the charity's pastor. The housing support was provided in connection with his pastoral duties and is included within 'Ministry expenses & honorariums' in the accounts. The trustees are satisfied that this payment was made in the best interests of the charity and was authorised under the charity's governing document. 

## **8. Independent Examination** 

In accordance with Section 145 of the Charities Act 2011, the accounts are subject to independent examination as the charity's gross income exceeded £25,000 during the year.

## **Basis of Preparation** 

These accounts have been prepared on a Receipts and Payments basis in accordance with the Charities Act 2011 and Charity Commission guidance for charities with gross income of £25,000–£250,000. 

## **Taxation** 

A Church is a registered charity and is therefore exempt from income and corporation tax on its charitable income and gains. 

## **Trustee Remuneration and Benefits** 

During the year, housing support totalling £19,599.75 was paid to Hoasung Kim (Chair of Trustees and pastor) in connection with his pastoral duties, comprising: Rent £17,496.00, Council Tax £1,305.00, and utility bills £798.75. This amount is included within 'Ministry expenses & honorariums' in the Payments schedule above. The trustees are satisfied this was authorised under the charity's governing document and made in the best interests of the charity.
