Projects take several years to complete from the time of

Anticipated data| |collection March to June 2026.| |**TRUTH- sTeroids in warm aUToimmune Haemolytic**| |**anaemia**| |TRUTH is a UK-wide audit of the management of warm| |autoimmune haemolytic anaemia, focusing on| |corticosteroid use. Aiming to open in March 2026.| |**AQuA- Acquired Haemophilia A – National Audit**| |Acquired haemophilia A is a rare, potentially life-| |threatening bleeding disorder caused by autoantibodies| |against FVIII. There are national BSH guidelines for the| |‘Diagnosis and Management of Acquired Coagulation| |Factor Inhibitor’ from 2013, and international consensus| |recommendations from 2020, but management options| |have changed considerably over this time and local| |practices across the UK differ.| |The HaemSTAR hub-and-spoke model is an ideal| |platform for looking at rare diseases. AQuA is a| |multicentre, national audit, comprising a 5-year| |retrospective review of patients diagnosed with acquired| |haemophilia A. HaemSTAR maintains a regular blog with contents
which include conference reflections, trainee
experiences, project updates, and thought pieces on
collaboration and research.
**BSH CONFERENCE SESSION**
HaemSTAR delivered a dedicated session within the
BSH 2025 programme. This included an overview of
HaemSTAR, project presentations, how to get involved
and research education. This raised awareness of
ongoing HaemSTAR studies, research opportunities and
encouraged new project proposals. HaemSTAR also
had its own stall with promotion of current and upcoming
studies, HaemSTAR events, signposting to website and
project sign-up and networking with potential

hosting fees of approximately £350, podcast hosting

administrative grant of £5000 from Takeda and does not
represent a financial risk. We also aim to apply for
additional sponsorship of the podcast for when the Sobi
sponsorship ends in 2025.
In 2023-24 we expanded our ability to fund registrars to
attend conferences. £19,200 of this comes from the
ISTH Legacy fund and we are able to use this until
2026. It is unlikely that costs will exceed this figure.
The educational webinars are a source of an
approximately £1200 annual cost. This is voluntary
however and can be stopped if there are insufficient
funds.
The HaemSTAR Update Day is now a recurring event
but this is organised through Hartley Taylor and they
secure industry support for the meeting. The only
HaemSTAR costs are voluntary and will not go ahead if
there are insufficient funds.
All the projects currently active are fully funded.
However we would like to run unfunded projects by
using money underspent from other projects and also
pump prime our pipeline by employing a project/data
manager through the University of Birmingham at a cost
of approximately £70,000 per year. This is not yet
feasible and will not go ahead unless there are sufficient
funds. The funding for this will be reviewed on an annual
basis and no commitments beyond 1 year will be made

I report in respect of my examination of the Trust’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination, I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act. **Independent** I have completed my examination.
