PINT (PEOPLE IN NEED TODAY)

TRUSTEES’ REPORT FOR THE PERIOD ENDED 31 MARCH 2023

People In Need Today (PINT) was registered as a Charitable Incorporated organization (CIO) with the Charity Commission on 7[th] June 2022. The Trustees present their first period report, together with the financial statements of People in Need Today for the period ended 31 March 2023.

P.I.N.T (People in Need Today) was established with a simple yet profound mission: to do a little good in the world . As our trustee David Anwar eloquently put it, "I want to do a little good in the world like some people did good to me when I was in trouble." This sentiment encapsulates the spirit and driving force behind our charity. We aim to brighten someone’s day and provide help to those who need it most.

The core purpose of P.I.N.T is to help the poor and needy, offering support and kindness to

those who find themselves in dire situations. Our mission is not only to provide aid but also to create a ripple effect of goodwill and compassion. We seek out individuals in need, particularly those sleeping on the streets and in parks, ensuring they receive the assistance they deserve.

Trustee Collaboration and decision making

Our trustees work collaboratively, listening to diverse ideas and collectively deciding on the best paths forward. This democratic approach allows us to harness the strengths and insights of each trustee, ensuring that our initiatives are well-rounded and effective. We are committed to maintaining a transparent and inclusive decision-making process, which is fundamental to our success and trustworthiness.

Impact Stories

The existence and success of P.I.N.T are deeply rooted in the personal journeys of our trustees. One trustee, in particular, embodies the transformative power of our charity. This individual was once in a vulnerable position, dealing with a severe medical condition and receiving no support or belief from others. Despite these challenges, this person has now become a trustee, dedicated to helping others who face similar struggles. This exceptional story highlights the profound impact P.I.N.T can have, turning recipients of aid into givers, and reinforcing our mission of creating a community of support and compassion.

Public Trust and Awareness

Over time, the general public is increasingly recognising P.I.N.T as a reliable and trustworthy charity. Our reputation is built on the consistent delivery of our promises and the visible impact of our work. We physically go out into the community to find and help those in need, demonstrating our commitment to our cause and the people we serve.

The Trustees confirm that the year-end report and financial statements of the People In Need Today charity comply with:

The above guidances are specifically applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard practiced within the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) (effective 1 January 2015).

1. OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES

Charitable objectives

PINT - People in Need Today is a non-profit voluntary charity dedicated to the relief and assistance of individuals who are homeless, anywhere in the UK, who are in need by reason of their poverty or financial hardship by the provision of, or assistance in the provision of, accommodation, services and/or goods.

Fundraising note

The Charity does not solicit funds by means of any mass appeals or generalised campaigns by phone, email, or direct mail. The Charity also does not sub-contract any fundraising activities to a third party and does not otherwise fundraise via a general call for support. Funds are instead raised via private donations and events held. The Charity did not receive any complaints about fundraising activity during the year.

The above time and location may change based on volunteer availability, weather conditions, and other circumstances. We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to our volunteers and collaborative partners. Without their dedication and support, this service would not be possible .

We are deeply thankful for their ongoing contributions and are proud to be working closely with the following partners:

We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to Rudy's Pizza and Dunn's Bakery for their generous food donations. Your support is invaluable to us, and it greatly enhances our ability to serve those in need. Thank you for making a positive difference in our community.

Plans for the future

Looking ahead, P.I.N.T is committed to expanding our outreach to assist even more people in need. A key component of this plan is acquiring a vehicle, which would significantly enhance our operational capabilities. With a vehicle, we would be able to heat up food for those in need, ensuring they receive warm, nutritious meals. Additionally, it would allow us to store food in a refrigerator, maintaining its freshness and safety. This logistical improvement would enable us to serve more individuals effectively and efficiently, furthering our mission of doing good and brightening the days of those who need it most.

To achieve this, we need to raise funds not only for the vehicle but also to continue supporting people in need. Your generous donations will be crucial in helping us reach our goals and expand our impact in the community.

Going concern

The Trustees have a duty to consider whether there are material uncertainties about the Charity’s ability to continue as a going concern for at least 12 months from the date the accounts are authorized for issue.

PINT (PEOPLE IN NEED TODAY)

TRUSTEES’ REPORT FOR THE PERIOD ENDED 31 MARCH 2023

Despite the ever-increasing need for support, the donation of £4,652 from Janies Homeless has provided us with the necessary cash flow to sustain our operations. Coupled with the financial discipline of the Trustees and continued donations, this has enabled the charity to maintain and even enhance its ability to support more people in need. As a result, the Trustees are confident that the Charity’s operations remain viable.

Financial review

The accounts have been prepared under the accruals basis.

During the period, the Charity's total income amounted to £5,683, while total expenditure was £100. The Charity's activities are primarily funded by a transfer of £4,652 from Janie's Homeless, supplemented by voluntary income of £1,032 from individual donations.

As a result, as at 31st March 2023, the Charity’s total funds were £5,583, all of which were unrestricted.

The Trustees have determined that maintaining reserves equivalent to 6 months' operating costs is appropriate according to their reserves policy. However, as this is the first period of operation and the Trustees plan to expand activities and invest in a capital asset, it is challenging for them to allocate funds specifically towards the reserves.

The Charity’s financial risks relate to risks of damage or injury to third parties or to their premises during the outreach and staging of any fundraising events.

Structure, governance and management

The Charity is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) and is governed by its Constitution.

Trustees

The Charity does not employ any staff. The trustees serving during the period and since the periodend are as follows:

Carlos Dennis - Chair (appointed on 7th June 2022)

Charlotte Devaney (appointed on 7th June 2022)

Toni Lockton (appointed on 7th June 2022)

David Anwar (appointed on 7th June 2022)

All of the trustees were appointed by the Board of Trustees at the initial meeting of the Charity in on 7th June 2022, and are subject to removal by the Board of Trustees. As the Charity continues to operate, the Board will continue to review the skills and experience of trustees with a view to determining whether the appointment of additional trustees is warranted. All trustees were appointed during the year.
